JC and SD4k have the greatest collectibility potential to me. That said I own an SD4k and really want to add the JC and SD43 to create a three-piece SD collection.

Owning all three watches my favourite is the SD4k.

I find it the most comfortable once the diver extension is removed. The JC is a lovely watch and the dial is lovely however I have knocked mine a few times against objects.

The sd43 is a lovely mixture of both and tapers down to make a more balanced watch on the wrist so that you don’t notice the weight and size.

Collectible to the extend of wanting to eventually sell? Prob at height of a bubble and a couple years too late, so may lose money. Not wise imho. But another subject.

Would think at least in that region smaller watches will be easier to shift. Whilst living in the APAC region wrists/people were typically smaller/slimmer than North America or Europe. The 4K sub with the red lines was v cool. Maybe that was two different watches. I forget!

Buy the watch YOU like wear and enjoy it and if 30 years on you decide to sell it you might get your "investment" back.

Oh and welcome to the forum.
Exactly this, Rolex is one of my favourite brands but this constant narrative about investment- especially from those new to watch collecting is turning me rapidly towards other brands as it’s this mentality that keeps fuelling the problems of obtaining certain models from Rolex AD’s these days.
From that list I own the JC DSSD, it may come as a shock to many but I actually bought it as I liked it, the dial is stunning.

Another vote here for SD4k.

I entered the Rolex world in 2010 with one of the last 16610lv (kermit), still worn 24/7/365, 11 years later.
I also own a Seiko Sbbn040, aka gold Tuna (titanium) when I run (trails) or want a massive watch from time to time.

I am fond of engineery, design and can say that these watches are really exceptional industrial products, regarding conjonction of reliability, design and craftmanship.

Even if i am a Rolex geek, I also bought in 2017 one of the last SD4K, kept unstickered, because I would like to own the Best Rolex Ever Made, and will probably wear it in a decade when money is not a problem anymore.
I love going to the bank safe, opening the box and looking at this marvel, like a 16600 but a bit more actual, and feel my heart miss a beat in front of such perfection. Knowing that I will unstick it, one day.

So...

1/ I think, like said above by some people here, that SD4k is the most collectible, simply because it is one of the last "classic" design SD, without cyclop, with slim lugs and 40mm dial, because it is also VERY well balanced (see the profile photos), with ceramic bezel which is quite appreciated by Rolex afficionados, and "function commands design" construction (the new SD is more massive, but this increase in size is dictated by fashion, not by fonction or lisibility).

2/ If people want to buy a "future collectible", let them do... I wear my kermit 24/7 but the stickered SD4k may follow the same way, one day. An investment can be transformed in a "watch for life", as it is hard to resist.
"Collectibles" always existed, even with 5digits Rolex.
Perhaps you will be glad that some people keep BNIB watches for you to buy them in 10 years !

I owned at SD4K and it was collectible but just not a watch I really wanted to keep. Stop worrying about collectability and focus on the watches you really like to wear; they'll have the best staying power!!!

But modern sd(or dssd) has different design and story so.. These might have more potential to be future classic or collectable?Just my opinion. Actually I don’t know about the watch collecting so I wanna ask you guys!

1. Do you think modern sd, dssd are more collectable than modern sub?

2. In the future, which sd watch would be
Future classic or collectable?
Can you rank these watches and reason why?

Sd4k- the last pure sea dweller design, released for short period in rolex history

Sd43- red writting, and well ballanced **50th anniversary** watch (so maybe itll be discontinued one day? And after then..?)

Dssd dblue- stunning dial, monster diver watch and it has a history of rolex deep sea challange (But it’s not original that 12,000m diver watch. so cant it be called as historic watch? I dont know)

Thx and sorry for my poor English :)
