Favorite 47mm Manual wind under 10.2k retail

Just curious where is the heart/mind of the forum with this type of reference (47mm Manual wind under 10.2k retail)
I listed in the poll 8 choices , trying to be as exclusive as possible but sorry if I omitted a favorite one. I hope that the way I pair some of them is acceptable to you.

Shoot

Here are the 8 choices:

1) 372/557
2) 422
3) 423
4) 662/663
5) 687/685
6) 587/673
7) 932/736
8) 720/721

Cross my mind, but I figured if you need a pic to know the reference then how can it be your favorite?

Great choices, but how about 931, 504, 790/791?

I like how you paired them, and those are great choices, but there's some others that are quite unique, and seem worth consideration (all 47mm and under 10.2k):

• 931 (Radiomir California, shaded brown dial, blue steel hands).
• 790/791 (1940s Art Deco - quite the departure, not sure of the historical tie for this)
• 504 (Brown composite Radiomir) - note the “companion” 47 Luminor (375) doesn't make the cut, as it lists for somewhere around 12,300

My current favorite is the 931, but if that's not a candidate, it's a tie between 663 and 687

I knew that from the moment I listed them I was gonna miss some but there are great choices there too

None of the above.

SLC PAM00425

Simplistic
Unique

Sandwich dial
In-house manual wind
Beautifully domed crystal

I have 460 Panerai models on one of my data bases.

My apologies for the size error.

Beautiful watch but probably the reason I didn’t listed it is because when I think of a 47mm manual wind , that dial doesn’t pop on my mind like a representative of the 47mm manual wind ... so yeah not an objective reason, more subjective.
But yeah I agree on the history and the other statements you mentioned above

I picked 587/673. I like the Marina Militare on the dial and the hands. Very close second for me would be the 662/663. As cool as the dials are on these, I just prefer a black dial watch

Tons of good options. If I had to choose among those, it would 372/557 for me. Yeah, I know, not the most "exotic" option.

Great choice but I did this thinking in pieces that are in the current Panerai catalog

Brown dial Limited Edition vs Crown guard Militare. Hard choice, because you want it all (well you did, you have both ) but if you also consider how does it wear and feel , is there a slight preference? If you are forced to choose 1 , which would of be ?

I really enjoyed owning the 422 for quite a while.
I've been thinking about putting Panerai back into my collection and seem to look at the 422, 372 or something in the Submersible line.

Imho If the only thing to be considered is the dial of the watch I like better the 372 than the 673. But I get it , 372 is more common and cheaper , you probably would move easier the 673 than a 372 since the 673 is limited

721 is such a simple but beautiful watch , love it. Purists will prefer 721 over 720 but there are others that prefer the words Panerai on the dial , is just personal preference.

Cheers

The personal preference is everything in this game buddy...

But don't forget the hands from the 673, these are simply stunning and put the watch in another category.

And as a wearer you'll see the word Panerai in the 721 everytime when you look the watch because it's printed in the rehaut at 12 o'clock. It's more subtle. But I understand your argument.

Jorge that would be tough. The 662 is my modern 6154 and the 673 is my modern 6152/1. As someone who owned a 1948 tropical 6152/1 these 2 are as close as it gets for me to the originals. To me they make the best pair and for the money well worth it!

PS Having had a 372 as well it doesn't compare to the 673!

The hands is actually one of the reasons I like better the 372, but I never seen 673 in the flesh or compare it with the 372 in that way, so I would say that is hard for anyone to speak of a reference without actually seeing the watch on the flesh. Therefore your opinion is more revenant that mine.

And yeah the 720 vs 721 depends more on the person

Thanks for your input brother
