Now I’m convinced the prices are just nuts!
Next stop $40,000. Not a single doubt it will happen. I'm bathing my toddler while wearing my white Daytona right now. Maybe I should be more careful with it

I felt lucky a few years back finding a buyer for my white Milgauss at $5k, even though I thought they may go up a little from there. I see them listed now for 9 grand. And white 39mm OPs could be had years ago for under are suddenly $8,000.

Demand for Rolex watches are so high, they can sell pretty much anything that they put on the market. It is tough when we have been fans so long and can’t compete with the new comers.

Second, I actually think my ADs are being straight with me. A couple years ago I wanted to buy a hulk for my dad (still do) and was told by one of my ADs they had 5 in the system. She asked if she could sell me one and got turned down. It sucks, but I actually prefer that to lies about unrealistic or completely untrue wait times. As I mentioned earlier I bought my 116500 in 2017. Paid a premium (despite members like what’s his nuts saying I’m a moron) of about $17k total. This was after every AD honestly told me it would be too long a wait to quote if ever possible. What a blessing that was, so I went ahead and thought this is never happening through an AD so why not go trusted seller! Spoiler, I don’t feel like a moron for doing so haha. They’ve all been pretty honest with me. Lastly, in regards to members here, there are all sorts of people here. In my experience I’ve met a lot of really great people that I’m happy and proud to call friends. Not virtual friends, real friends. Some of which I literally chat with daily. Are there people here that probably act like douchebags to their SAs? Of course. But I don’t think it’s fair to generalize the entire group of members having a difficult time getting watches they want from ADs. In reality, some regions of the country and world are simply much much more competitive than others. Then of course there is the very real possibility that these ADs, as you suggested are selling directly to grays. That’s definitely Possible, knowingly or unknowingly. Either way, the people here in NY that are getting these really hard to get watches directly from ADs either spent BIG money or are real tight with Ad owners and/or managers. Anyone else landing really hard to get watches got extremely lucky IMO. |

In fact I think the Bitcoin should be pegged to the white Daytona standard. Only a currency manipulator would devalue their currency like that.

I definitely didn't generalize, I said "some" of the members here with purchase history probably are not as personable and charming as they think they are and I'm pretty sure that's an accurate statement here, and everywhere in society.

Again; I am so glad I built my collection when I did (2013-2017), but feel bad for those trying to do so today. It’s a shame that there are so many out there who ONLY buy Rolex because a social media platform tells them too. They’ve always been status symbols, but moreso as rewards for success. It seems like people today go out and buy Daytonas and GMT-Master IIs whether they like them or not.
None of these pieces are worth waiting years for or paying double or triple retail for. Easy for me to say, but the advice I give anyone trying to build a collection today is to just look at other brands. |

For those who are late to the Rolex party, it’s really tough going. Exploring other brands definitely makes for an easier time. Otherwise it’s often buying watches and jewellery you don’t want, becoming a preferred client etc. .....and we know how many posts on here are from newbies to the brand upset that they can’t get the Rolex they want at MRSP |
