The most notable watches I have in my collection are the Omega speedy and IWC pilot, and I would want the Rolex to be complimentary. I'm usually a more casual dressing guy but I heard that the DJ can be very casual as well and I do have to go business casual at work.

Any thoughts to help me make up my mind?
If you go with the DJ41, make sure to get the fluted bezel version. The smooth bezel version looks too generic/boring IMO.

Explorer for sure. It has a timeless feel and is as iconic as the sub. Not t9 mention it will retain its value better.
To me the design of the datejust is very dated, something lawyers or mba’s wore in the 80’s.

One other thing to add is that tastes evolve over time. Mine certainly have. You won’t go wrong with either of these choices as your first Rolex. And before you know it you’ll be searching for something entirely different (like the rest of us!).

Either would be awesome, how you actually obtain one is the challenge. Good luck I would go the DJ41.

The explorer seems to be fitting best in your collection: it’s sporty, very versatile and it has a black dial.

The DJ could add something more to your rotation, but I’d go Explorer and just make the three watch collection complete.

Thanks all. Really great responses here. I actually liked the smooth bezel over the fluted, but I think that's just because I want it to stand out less but completely agree fluted is the look for the DJ.

I guess the biggest issue is actually getting one of these! Do you guys think the Explorer or the specific blue Datejust with smooth bezel + jubilee is harder to get? I had good indications with my AD on the Explorer so far, but not the blue DJ.
