Just jumped on the Boat!
Well i knew it would only be a matter of time but i finally decided on pulling the trigger on a 45-AS1.
and for those who might be familiar with U-Boat: I am not truely familiar yet with all the variances but the one i picked up has only "U-BOAT" on the top of the dial with a small Italo Fontana and under the ruby jewel it says Made in Italy. Can anyone shed some light on this? im not questioning the authenticity at all since it was purchased from an AD but just curious because i see some with "IFO", "Left hook" etc.... the kicker i liked is it serial #0006, i thought that was cool. Heres a crappy iphone pic for now until i get home and take a real shot but so far im liking it and the dial and big numbers are refreshing. |

and a couple of closeup of the dial and backside
havent taken the piece off since, loving the feel and i love swapping bands. sorry for the finger print, got too excited to take the picture haha i am definitely impressed with the quality and feel, a bit bigger then the deep sea in diameter being 45mm but the weight is about the same as my gmtiic. i love the big dial and numbers, makes it easier on the eyes. |

Nice choice, they seem a bit more popular now they have some smaller diameters in their line up there have been several variations of what is on the dial over the years as well as the position of the engraved LE numbering. Mine is an older 53mm quartz and the number is engraved on the case back, some have it engraved on the side as well.

Excellent watch. For it's size, very very comfy.
As far as I know, the jewel is for the auto models. I don't think it's on the quartz models. The quartz ones also have a different second hand. It's pointed at the end.

haha thanks!! its truely a great piece, been wearing it for 2 weeks now and though there are some things i can point out that are just not up to par with my rolex pieces for the most part if your looking for a beater / every single day piece i would definitely recommend it.
