Look at the images in this article...he's worn this watch in the winner's circle before. Clearly black face.

No matter, he is a credit to golf and a credit to the Rolex brand.

Team Rolex
Jordan Spieth, United States
At the age of 24, Jordan Spieth has already won three majors and scored a partnership with Rolex. He first caught the attention of the brand back in 2009 at the Junior PGA Championship when he was named the Rolex Junior Player of the Year. Now, he’s one of the elite members of Rolex’s New Guard, a group of prodigious players who represent the next generation of top golfers. So far, Spieth’s collection includes an Explorer II and a Daytona.

Justin Thomas, United States
Justin Thomas won his first major earlier this year, and he’s just getting started. This young player has already caught the eye of Rolex. They have partnered with him as one of their up and coming New Guards for his inspiring athleticism. With that, his watch collection has started to grow. He’s got a Yacht-Master 40 and Cosmograph Daytona to see him through to his next major.
Obviously he's paid. If you ever watch golf they have a commercial every break and he's in half of them. Also on the website:

Rolex gives him whatever he wants, or whatever they want him to wear. I would imagine that does not include models discontinued many years ago. Every notice how these guys don't play with the watch on, but then have it on their wrist within minutes of finishing their round?

Do you have a copy of the corrected article to which you refer? I just checked the link now and it still reads that this was a SS Daytona 116520.

Sorry...I thought we were still arguing about what color the dial was. No, I have no other information.

Justin Thomas Blue WG Daytona

Always felt this is an under appreciated watch, and an under appreciated player. Great to see both come out winners

To be fair, most players that wear watches put their watch on immediately after a round. I don’t leave my bag before i have my watch on. But, they are likely under a contract that requires them to wear it and i bet they get a win bonus when they get photographed. Brooks forgot his watch the last tourney he won in his bag and he yelled over to his caddy to grab his watch.
