I just bought my first Rolex in March and the date was on the “must have” list.

Date with cyclops for sure, gives it a little pop.

Depends on the model. Some look better with it and some without. I tailor my watch to whether I need a date function that day or not.

My very first Rolex is a Datejust II and there's no going back with having the date function for me.

I prefer the date but as you say, that excludes the Daytona. So I make exceptions :)

Date was necessary for the practicality of it. Especially in my line of work I need to know the date 100 times a day. I also despise having to use my phone to check the time or date.
Symmetry of non-date watches is nice, but I don’t care for it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have both, the no date being the Milgauss. When I need to know the date and look at the watch only to remember it doesn’t have the date, I’m a little disappointed.

Strongly prefer no date. I like how it's clean dial and well-proportioned. I dislike how the cyclops distorts the look when viewed off-axis.

The week number (1-53) is the only complication I'd really have use for. I'd love a watch with only time and week.

In general I like having a date. However no date is ok too depending on the watch. Speedmaster/Daytona look good without a date. Originally I thought I’d really miss having it, and I do catch myself checking my wrist for the date sometimes when wearing the Speedmaster, but it’s not a huge deal and my error gives me an excuse to look at the watch lol.

For a everyday watch I have to have the date, but I’d make an exception for an explorer and speedy.

No preference - love the clean look of no date, love having the convenient function of a date (I’m even okay with the cyclops!). Have both, love both.

I've an Exp but I do miss my ExpII and DJ dates when wearing it. A day complication would have been useful during lockdown. Every day seemed like the weekend.

You got to have a Date + Cyclops. Isn't that a must for Rolex watches.

My preference is a date, without a Cyclops. Slim pickings from Rolex but Tudor plays along.
When I asked to be put on the mythical list for a new Submariner, I asked for a no date this time. |

No date for symmetry, simplicity, easy to set. I know, very limited Rolex options, I'll take the first new Explorer I see at an AD!
