Thinking of picking up an Arnie
Good day all !
Was thinking of getting a Seiko Arnie ( the black SNJ025 model ). How do you guys like the new reissues ? The only Seiko I currently own is the SKX009. What drew me into this watch ( besides is major popularity in movies etc ) is the digi/ani combo feature. Plus the fact that it can do an hourly chime, alarm, etc. I could use the alarm function daily, and the Seiko lume would last me all night ( should at least, depending if the lume is as good as it is on the monster / SKX modes ). How do you guys like yours ? |

I think the Arnie is great and I use it sleeping and exercising. It wears slightly smaller than you would think but it fits the wrist great. I have the Pepsi, Green, Black and the Tan. They get some good wrist time.

I enjoy mine. It wears smaller than it measures, but it’s big. Fun watch.

Its fantastic, and I wear mine all the time. The bezel, chrono, date, time mean that I get a lot of use and has been probably the watch I have worn most since the lock down in March. Some may complain about the size, but the lug to lug length is about as long as my 16610 sub, and its smaller than most gshocks. For me, I grew up watching Commando and seeing that watch, its really the one that started it all for me. I thought about getting the vintage one, but I dont like used watches and dont want to pamper the watch either. |

Ok - you guys officially sold me on it. Now I just have to figure out where to pick one up. Seems on Amazon and eBay the prices on these seems to be around $375+. Would love to just go to a Seiko AD and like a Macy’s but don’t feel like paying the $550 or whatever the retail on these puppies are. |

Amazon is not a bad way to go. I got mine on the seiko website, and paid full boat. I should have got it on Amazon. I looked at the Pepsi and version with the gold hands but opted for the closest to the original. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I absolutely love mine - big but perfect “big” watch on my 6.75 inch wrist. I would Recc getting it without a doubt. I think i bought from seiko website minus 20% coupon . One of my favorite non-mechanical watches along with my G-SHOCK gw5600

Go into an AD and find the one you want and respectfully ask for a discount. You should be able to do 20% without much push back. If they do not budge then look to Amazon or EBay, I have had good luck with both. If you use EBay make sure it is an American Dealer who accepts returns with a lot of feedback. Let us know how it goes.

Have you found any good aftermarket straps for this model?

I love the elastic straps like The Watch Steward “Original.” You get no bulk from the rubber strap and the watch wears smaller on the wrist because of the midget lugs. Feels and looks great and cinches to your wrist. Sent from Crapatalk

Thank you for that ! That’s a good suggestion. I haven’t ordered one yet but when I do, that’s the cheapest price I could find from any AD in my area. |

I have the Black SNJ025, love it, the original H558 I had as a teenager was my first ‘expensive’ watch and I have so many great memories from wearing it that I had to buy the reissue.
I actually would prefer it to have been more expensive but made with better quality materials such as sapphire crystal and to have been manufactured in Japan - like the original as oppose to China. |
