Icon20 No regret but it hurts a little!

Dropped by an AD today asking to be considered for a sub date, he brought out a no date sub. It looks sleek without the date but the heart is set on one with the cyclop so left it for the next owner, very tempting though. The new 41mm is perfect for a 7inch size wrist like mine. Left the shop feeling some heartache but got over it. The sa said no worry you will get the one you want sooner then you may think! Just a small talk on a Saturday don’t mind me.

I think many of us occasionally have 'non-buyers remorse' when it comes to Rolex. Always the challenge of whether a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. I salute your fortitude- I'm also waiting for the Rolex I want, not the one I can get.

You did the right thing - if you know for sure - the sub date is the one.

.... you could have always owned both, however ?!

Class move, man. You'll get the Sub Date soon. And looking forward to those pics when you get it. All the best.

You will love the Sub Date 41! I certainly do love mine and prefer it over my 124060.

You absolutely did the right thing, no question about it. You would have always wondered and thought about the date window no matter how beautiful the watch is. Well done! Hopefully soon you will get to pick up your new Sub Date.

I think I would have bought the no date and worn it for the next 6-12 months until the AD can source you a dated version. Best of both worlds. Wear a Sub now. Compare them when the date arrives and then sell off the one you like least.

I'm jealous as I've been looking for one for quite awhile. I think you made a good decision in waiting for what you really want.

Wow, think you were quite lucky to be offered the no date on the spot — would’ve been hard to turn down. Next time I go in looking for a BLRO I hope they come out with a BLNR.

It’s pretty incredible that they offered you the no date. Personally, I think the no date is absolute perfection, but if that’s not what you had your heart set on, then you made the right choice.

No regret but it hurts a little!

I hope you get your Sub Date soon. I picked up this one today ... been waiting since it’s release ... actually before as I was waiting since Deb 2018 for the Hulk, so my interest shifted over to this one once the Hulk was discontinued. Patience pays off. Be good to your AD.

You passed up a legend. Only submariner without a date. No other colors, PM, no other options. There is intention and thought behind this coming from Rolex. Just the clean pure iconic version of the submariner. If I wanted the date would get the datejust or GMT. The sub is and will always be dateless. So much better looking as well! If I had to get the date, there is the bluesy or Kermit.

I mean on the flip side you got to get what you like! There is no correct or incorrect decision here. I tend to agree with the rest as well, go with your heart. But man the submariner is clean. Call them back up maybe it is still there.

Wish this kind of stuff happened to me. I would have shot first and asked questions later when it comes to a SS sports Rolex.

The nice thing is that the AD will likely now see you as a "non-flipper" as you refused what you were really not wanting. Could be an advantage for you later.

It’s a tough one. I passed on a BLNR last year because I really wanted the BLRO and didn’t care as much for the black and blue. Still no BLRO and at this point I regret not snapping up the bird in the hand...

You made the right call. The Sub Date will come and from there on you will not even think about questioning your decision.

I was told they have been starting to come in more frequently. Hope you see it soon.
