Does anyone have a good AD they recommend in SoCal. I have spent way too much money with DavidSW and need to build a relationship. I have about 5 pieces on my list and hoping to get at least 1 or 2 this year. Problem down here I have ran into is they all want you to buy other brands and I am fairly brand loyal, also the clients that get all the watches down here spend a 100k+ a year.

Go to Rolex specific boutiques I have had good experience with one in San Diego and Santa Monica

I agree with rollex4me.

If you go to Rolex Boutique, they sell only Rolex so you don't have to worry about buying something else that you don't want.

You go and express your interest, I think soon or later you have a chance to get something that you want from them.

Definitely Rolex boutique.

Too many "jewelers" pushing for non-related purchases with no promise of watch and you have no idea when Rolex cut their AD status off despite of 30 years, 40 years of relationship with AD and Rolex.

Highly recommended for Rolex boutique in SD.

Don’t live there, never bought anything there, but I got the best vibe from Geary’s Santa Monica Boutique. Second would be Geary’s store in Beverly Hills, not their Boutique.
I was just browsing but got the idea that if I was a buyer they would take care of me.
Of course be realistic. You will not be offered a Daytona or BLRO as your first purchase.

I definitely recommend Fourtané in San Diego. They don’t have a magic wand, but they will treat you extremely well. They like talking watches, so let them know your desire and show your knowledge/love for those you want, and they will do their best to help you achieve your goals.

The others I think are good are Santa Monica and Beverly Hills - both of which have offered me the Platona 116506 in the past 18 months (kicking myself for not buying at least one of those ... doh!).

I called Santa Monica. We will see how it goes. Being a younger guy into Rolex and only been collecting for a few years, it’s absolutely frustrating as hell when you want to be brand loyal and buy a few pieces a year it’s almost impossible. I don’t want to go to the grey market anymore as things are getting just out of hand. It’s really disappointing how some of these AD handle business

Don’t call them, go in and talk to them. They get calls all day.

There’s nowhere in this world where a few pieces a year won’t get you anywhere at all.

Unless you’re talking about the cheapest of the cheap Tudors or similar.

Agreed. Got to go in person. Spoke to the manager a few months ago and they get at least 20 calls a day asking for popular models. Going in and meeting them in person is a must

Prepare to spend money on Rolex boutique also....
To me greys was a place where I buy watch at lower price compared to markets, where you can find a deal.

Nowadays all change and either I manage to get from AD or I wait.
Greys are good to go for omega and Panerai.

$100k+ a year is quite small actually compared to some numbers I've heard.

What I have learnt is there are many people with deeper pockets than me and if they are spening $300-$400k a year on jewls and other watches well they can have the SS Daytona or the Platona. They have actually paid for it in an indirect way as the AD profits have been made up by their other purchases.

It aint worth me spending anywhere near that to get a piece. Paying the premium on gray market you'll still be on top.

Relationships takes years,even decades,its not a quickie .

Lol, easy enough my friend. Go to any AD plunk down 100k in anything they have. Wait a day, and all the sudden despite all this demand suddenly and unbelievably unpredictably you will get lucky and get what you want. Must have been at the right place at the right time.

Joking aside we are all competing with gray market now and they spend tens of thousands every month and they get first dibs, unless you do the same, you will be told about all this demand and how rare the SS watches are and all the other BS they pitch our way.

Still have 90% of them. This year was looking to complete my GMT selection and buy a Pepsi, then buy a date just and even a women’s watch for my mom.
