Share Your Ownership Experience
Hey All - for fun....curious about your Rolex ownership experiences. See below.
1. Which was your favorite to own and why? 2. Favorite aesthetically? 3. Most thrilling purchase? 4. Which was the best value for money? 5. Of those sold, which one was the most difficult to part with and My responses .... 1. Which was your favorite to own and why? 126660 D-Blue is my favorite. It’s an engineering marvel, wears perfectly on my wrist and that dial never gets old! 2. Favorite aesthetically? Same as above....love the dial and the way that it changes based on angle and lighting. 3. Most thrilling purchase? Milgaus GV. It was my first Rolex and luxury watch and my wife bought it for me on Christmas Eve 2010 while out shopping. Truly great moment! 4. Which was the best value for money? My last Gen Daytona (116520) with black dial. Bought at $12k from AD in early 2016. 5. Of those sold, which one was the most difficult to part with and why? The Milgaus mentioned above. We encountered a tough time due to a perfect storm that I never saw coming. We decided together to sell the watch. My wife said “don’t worry...they’ll be others”. It was tough due to purchase memory but 3 Rolexes later she was absolutely right!

1) 116520 white dial. It has had the most wrist time compared to all my other Rolex watches
2) The chrono subdials give the watch character. 3) Getting a 116520 from an AD is challenging. 4) Best bang for buck for the 116520 when MSRP was slightly under $10k. 5) Never sold a Rolex. |

1. My 216570 EXP 2, I sold my 16570 and missed it, but I like the newer version so much better. The larger indices and hands, the larger case, and the orange GMT hand all make it the "perfect" watch for me.
2. See No. 1. 3. 216570 again. After selling off a bunch of other watches to "repurchase" an EXP 2 to replace the first one I sold after owning it 14 years, I was not able to find one at the nearest AD, which is the largest in the state, and so I took a chance, called an AD in a much smaller community about 60 miles away. Luckily they had one, and I made an unexpected road trip that same day to go buy it. A close second place is the Datejust 41mm I recently bought. My only Rolex not purchased at an AD. I had to buy one from a re-seller I had never dealt with thousands of miles away, but it all turned out great. Thrilling can also mean nervously excited. 4. I'd have to say the first Rolex, my 16570 EXP 2. It was the least expensive. I wore it for 14 years and then sold it for a lot more than what I paid for it. 5. Only sold one, the 16570, but it was to fund the purchase of a horse for a family member, and that was more important at the time than having that watch. No regrets. In the end, a few years later I bought my 216570, which I like better anyway. It is all good! |

1. My SD43 . We moved to a new city , went to an AD I had no history with and after being told no way would I get the new SD . A week later the SA called and told me if you want the SD43 come over now and it’s yours , and boom it was mine .
2.D-Blue , love the dial in direct light . 3.SD43 , it opened the door with a new AD in a new city . 4. I think all my Rolexes are great values because they maintain they’re value . 5. My 1997 GMT Master . I too was experiencing a down time financially and needed money for my daughters school housing . It was only thing I could think of I would no problem getting good money for . Now I see what it sells for I really wish I could of kept it but my daughters education is worth a lot more than a watch . |

1. Rolex Explorer 39mm
2. Rolex Explorer 39mm 3. A Lange and Sohne 1815 Up/Down 4. Omega Railmaster (not the trilogy edition) - One of the best time only watches out there. 5. None, I sold the majority of my collection when hype was at peak. I regret nothing and made a killing. What I did regret was coming home and seeing all these nice watches in a box never being worn. |

I have one. It's a 15003 from 1983. I've owned it for four years. It's a watch and I use it to tell time. That's about it.

1. Which was your favorite to own and why?
YM pt dial 116622. My first Rolex so I was very excited. It’s the one I’ve worn the most so far, plenty of great memories attached to it. It’s comfortable, discreet, classy, quiet and confident, a bit like me . 2. Favorite aesthetically? Sub41 TT Bluesy 126613LB, adds a touch of exuberance to the collection, even if it's not me. 3. Most thrilling purchase? SD43 126600, it felt extra special, no purchase history at the AD, 1st on the waiting list, waited less than 2 months since the announcement at BaselWorld, felt surreal even in 2017. 4. Which was the best value for money? YM pt dial 116622 (good discount on a NOS piece, before the craziness). 5. Of those sold, which one was the most difficult to part with. Sold the YM to partially fund the Bluesy, only to buy it back from the dealer a week later. Parting with the YM was a huge mistake, I had terrible seller’s remorse. |

Thanks for sharing! I sold my Daytona RG with chocolate dial about a year ago. I had the DSSD and SS Daytona and it wasn’t getting much wrist time. I do miss it, but price has gone way up since I sold. Not a huge regret, but wish I’d hung on to it.

Milgauss. Love how nerdy it is. 2. Favorite aesthetically? No date sub. 3. Most thrilling purchase? Milgauss, but out of all watches, Zeitwerk by Lange. 4. Which was the best value for money? Milgauss (not so much anymore). 5. Of those sold, which one was the most difficult to part with. None |

1. Considering I only own one I would have to say my OP36. To me it’s the perfect GADA watch and it’s just so nice to look at. It’s also incredibly comfortable.
2. Aesthetically I’ll have to go with one I don’t own and that would be the new GMT on an Oyster bracelet. Really looking forward to adding one to my collection. 3. My OP was and always will be the most thrilling purchase. I had been saving for a while to get a BB or Speedy. My girlfriend had scheduled her NCLEX exam in Binghamton and there were no ADs. She had a change of heart and pushed it back which resulted in us going to Cleveland. After she finished her exam we stopped at an AD around the corner and the OP was sitting in the case 2 weeks after being discontinued. I unexpectedly pulled the trigger. I think it was the most thrilling because it was my first and it was totally unexpected. 4. Again I have to say the OP is the best bang for your buck. At under $6,000 you get a very stylish watch that you can dress up or down. It’s basically an explorer without the name. 5. When my GMT comes in I will probably have to sell the OP. I absolutely love the OP and really don’t want to get rid of it but I won’t be able to pass up a GMT because it is one of my Rolex grails. After that I’ll probably chase a YG Daytona on OF |

I'm very fond of my DJ36 126234 2. Favorite aesthetically? Date Sub 3. Most thrilling purchase? The Datejust. Went to the AD on a whim after getting a big promotion in the office. They had a Cellini, a Yachtmaster, and this. I wanted a blue dial personally but the black dial was too hard to pass up. 4. Which was the best value for money? Sub, probably. 5. Of those sold, which one was the most difficult to part with. Explorer 214270 |
