Saw one today at my AD. I like it and so did my wife. I think it is a keeper. I waived off the NATO strap and told my SA to call me when they got one with a leather band. Thought I saw a comment about it being lighter than SS...they must have been talking about appearance, because it is HEAVY. Very solid feeling. The silver alloy is strong and scuff/scratch resistant and not supposed to tarnish or patina...SA speculated that it was Silver and Platinum alloy but really doesn't know for sure. It is very cool though.

If it was a silver platinum alloy, that would be explicitly stated all over their marketing literature, videos, website, etc..

No possibility of them using platinum and then not mentioning it.

It would undoubtedly cost more too.

Sterling Silver consists of 92.5% silver, and the remaining part consists of copper.

Thanks for posting that picture.

That could be what the case of the watch looks like after 10 years of wear.

Sterling is softer than Bronze. I have a couple of bronze watches, and yeah, they get dinged up like your bracelet.

Its odd that no one here can figure out the "why" Tudor did this. Yet there are threads her of beautiful old dinged up Tudors and rolexs - even better if they have a faded dial.

In a couple of years, this watch will look even more vintage than it does new - heck it has a "tropical dial" look already, and will certainly show signs of wear like a bronze (or sliver) watch does. Its going to have its own unique character (without that Patina BS that people claim to love with Bronze).

People ask "why did they brush the whole case." Its because silver gets worn, and its gonna get all scratched up anyway - a polished case would be a major fail (unless you want to have the case polished every couple of months - its just not gonna stay that way).

I love the BB58 in general, but its a bit boring in many ways (I've literally been wearing similar sized blue divers for 30 years). This version however, is not boring and will gain more character over time. It will take on a vintage type vibe without having any fake vintage design cues like yellowed lume.

I think its brilliant, and what they are doing here is not obvious looking at the watch in mint condition. Personally the fact that it is divisive, makes it even more brilliant.

True in general, but not in the case of this watch.

Apologies for not having documentation. I understand why "my AD said" is annoying to some with so much misinformation out there.

However, I was told by the Tudor Rep for my region, not my AD, that the 925 is 92.5% Silver and the other alloy is palladium that replaced the traditional copper.

I tried to find another factual reference and did find this article that speculates the same but also is unconfirmed. I'm confident it is true however. Replacing copper with palladium will avoid nearly all of the traditional tarnishing process.

Ditto. Was invited to an event to see all the new Tudor watches... it’s mixed with palladium confirmed by the Tudor Rep.

I’d like to see this after a year on the wrist. Or even a month.

I have a “coin silver” pocket watch from 1874. Being 140 odd years old the case is in beautiful condition. It winds and runs very well, the dial is nice.

I hope to acquire a 925. I like the idea of the silver material. Have a slate bronze and love it. Great addition to a Rolex collection.

Looks interesting to me. I'd buy it for the simple fact its 925 silver. That's unique!, name another modern watch like it? And I'd bet it would hold value too or increase over a SS piece overtime right?

Maybe Tudor cracked the code. But silver is the most undesirable metal for a divers watch I can think of. As you pointed out it tarnishes and is a serious scratch and ding magnet. Think of your family sterling silver dinner ware. Stainless steel came into existence in the first place because of its durability and longevity. SS is perfect for dive watches if you think about it. Fortunately most folks buying the Tudor Silver BB 58 are mere desk divers.

I like the fact that it dares to be different. Washed out ghostly appearance, which is kind of cool when you think about it. I'd get one if it wasn't for the snowflake hand.
