Played with a puppy with my new Sub...

A couple weeks ago I finally got my first Rolex, a brand new stainless steel Sub which I love beyond words.

After playing with my friend’s puppy today, I discovered a number of large, conspicuous scratches - I underestimated this adorable little fella’s teeth and nails!

I firmly believe these watches are meant to be worn, and of course scratches are guaranteed to happen. In fact, I had a few small ones already. However, I expected my bracelet to look this scratched after a year or two of ownership, not after 2-3 weeks due to something that was so easily preventable.

Now I just can’t decide if I’ll be more or less careful with puppies. After all, what’s a few more scratches now?

I have been there - my dog weighs 60 kilos and is very hyperactive I actually take my watch off to play with him sometimes.

In regards to scratches what I love about my daily sd43 is that It’s really quite scratched up but only if you look closely, it really takes away some of the anxiety, even I admit I have with some of my more pretty watches. I know it needs a polish at some point in its life now anyway so as you said what’s a few more :)

It's a watch meant to be worn. I wear mine doing about everything. If I was going to change spark plugs on my specialty car then yes I would shed the Sub

Enjoy the sub and all the scratches it will inevitably get. A sub without scratches is like a super sport motorcycle with chicken strips.

People buy watches for different purposes.

Those who buy them to post on social media, understandably, don't wear them that much. Have to keep them scratch-free for those beautiful photoshoots.

There are those who buy them to wear them. Their watches are full of scratches. There are plenty out there, but they don't post wristshots so often so you can mistakenly assume that they are few.

I have many scratches on my sub. It’s my beach watch and I’m sure the scratches are from bathing my four girls after beach walks. Makes me smile every time I wear it.

My dog scratched my LV about 10 years ago when we were messing about, he passed away recently but I still have the scratch. It reminds me of him every time I wear the watch, I’ll never remove it

It's your watch and I think scratches are small signs of your life. I must admit that the first scratch in a new watch is always disappointing, but I am still using all my watches in daily or weekly rotation. Enjoy your sub and your dog!

I love my dog more than my Sub. If she scratched my watch it would make me like the watch even more.

My dog passed a few months ago and it never occurred to me how much she must have scratched my watches with the way I played with her. I think I'll enjoy each one a little bit more now

I purchased a puppy 3 months ago, very bitey while teething.

Been wearing my DJ while playing with her, she hasnt scratched it yet even though her teeth hit it. OP must have been playing with a powerful pup

I've got a new 8 month old pup and an old boxer. I can't see the scratches through the slobber.
