A fifty year old 36mm DJ "on sale" with an ugly leather strap for a premium price.

No thanks.

It's weird being the same age as old people.

Jeebus Crispies, don't walk away from that, RUN!

FWIW there are a good number of older DJs out there from very reputable dealers and trade-friendly collectors that can begin in the 3.5k range...and are actually legitimate.

I like what they’ve done with the dials personally, but the prices are outrageous. A fool and his money, as they say......

"swiss made, reimagined in Los Angeles, priced ridiculously high, then marked down to make it appear like you're getting a deal when in fact you're still getting hosed."

that's a big NO. get a nice vintage datejust from that era, then get a band you like and save yourself several thousand dollars.

I thought the pic looked funny. Never expected Holt Renfrew would sell old watches.

Yeah; that's pretty outrageous, although they're upfront in the description at your link:

$8000 for a “reimagined“ date just? Really?

Walk away. You can purchase an almost new DJ with warranty for the same price.

From the ad it looks like they buy pre-owned 50 year old Datejusts for ~$3,500, replace the dial with one they make in different colors, slap a painted leather strap on it, and sell it for $8k. Their blurb says they warranty it for 2 years, so maybe they've serviced it (but I wouldn't count on it).

Time Delay Corp also stamps their refinished dials (but at the 9 o'clock, I believe)... from what I have heard, this is actually what you're supposed to do if you are refinishing dials...

There was a topic on this a couple of years ago. Rolex told them to stop.
