Not necessarily Peter. I get where you're coming from and I love ND watches so I agree with you in a way, but my favorite complication is alarm and Seiko made one in the sixties that can last a lifetime with very low maintenance. JLC memovox and Omega memomatic are the same so you can have interesting complications without the burden of spending much on the long term or treating the watch like a baby.

Combine the GMT and Daytona to have a Daytona with a moveable 24 hour bezel, GMT hand and non-cyclops date.

A market timer might be nice. I’d love to know when my investments are about to halve

Something that tells you it’s time for another alcoholic beverage would be useful.

Along those same lines a forum member suggested that GMT watches make great beer counters and I have used this method at many tailgates ever since. Brilliant!

The 24 hour hand elegantly resolves the am/pm question.
If only a 12 hour bezel then an additional am/pm feature would be needed for the complete functionality. In this case we have to look at two different points of data on the watch vs the imho simpler 24 hour hand that answers both questions in one glance.

My travel watch has been the explorer II for about 10 years, it has earned a solid place in my small collection a perfect watch. The fixed 24 hour bezel is my favorite design.

What ever complications you want on a mechanical watch, will always
make the watch more fragile and more expensive to service.
It would be better to work on giving watches a longer power reserve
and longer service intervals in my opinion.

OP, i think it largely depends on which watch brand forum you ask this question.

This watch brand is not exactly famous for complications. And thus, it will likely attract people who just wants the simplest watches.

In fact, a lot of people here, when regularly polled, always say they preferred no-date watches. If the people in this forum were the majority of Rolex's customer base, Rolex would only be selling Oyster Perpetuals, No-date Subs, Explorers, and the like.

The Skydweller wouldn't exist. Heck, even the much-beloved Daytona wouldn't exist. Who would want a chronograph, right? Ew, complications! Fragile movements! Expensive repair bills! The horror!

I think the annual calendar feature in the Sky Dweller should trickle down to the Day Date and Datejust models. It would be even nicer if Rolex just added this annual calendar to all watches with a date.

An engineer once told me “complication is the enemy of reliability”, and I totally understand that.

But I don’t understand how watchmaking hasn’t improved over the last few decades like other technology has.

I don’t understand why Seiko doesn’t make annual or perpetual calendars.

I want less complicated. A yellow gold no date sub and a platinum no date sub.

I would like to see a new interpretation of the The Rolex Dato Compax aka Jean Claude Killy in the Cillini line. Maybe a Perpetual Moon Phase like what we saw in the 8171.

Finally, I think the skydweller is wonderful in terms of the power and originality of the movement.

Someone posted a moon-phase sub a while ago and while I wasn't in love with the particular execution I liked the concept. The moon/sea/tides are so inextricably locked. There are days I've cared more about the moon phase than the date.

Great poll! Annual calendar (SkyD) combined with moonphase!

I realise that, of course, but the 12-hour bezel works perfectly and at-a-glance as long as you know if the time-zone you are tracking is ahead of or behind you. This is why I think it's enough for all but the busiest long-haul travellers.

Here's my 12-hour bezel telling me it's 10:10 where I am and 8:10 in the place I'm tracking. Simple, functional, beautiful

I like that a lot more than the 24 hour format.

1) Since Roles purportedly makes a mountaineer watch, how about an Explorer with an altimeter? My Tissot T Touch with altimeter has been my go to watch in the mountains for years.

2) Since Rolex supports so much golf, how about a range finder complication? Then Phil could know his exact distance to the flag by just glancing at his Cellini!

Not dumb at all - I'd like to see this as well.

Also moon phases on a Rolex.
