Does anyone know when the slate grey 116509 come out?
Hi all.
Does anyone know when the grey dial 116509 with the superluminova Arabic numerals came out? I've seen one on wf no b&p but says 2009? Thought that combo was newer than that. Also this one has a red "large seconds hand", thought it came with silver... can anyone help shed light for me? |

.
"Slate Arab" dial (if you talk about this one) was introduced in 2008, but was never available from Rolex for 116509 Daytona. It was a dial dedicated to 116519 on leather or diamonds models 116589/116599. . |

116509 Slate Dial
Here is what I have come to know based on my research of this watch.
I have seen 116509 Slate Dial Daytona's with Z Serial Numbers and I have seen them with Random Serial Numbers..... All having Green Lume. I am of the opinion that the last 116509 Slate Dial Random Serial Daytona's were produced during the 1st quarter of 2013. The 116519 Slate Dial Daytona's on leather strap I have seen range from V Serial to Random. There could be earlier versions than V serial, but I'm confident about the V. If you wanted blue lume you would need a more recent random serial version and I am of the opinion that the last 116519 Slate Dial Daytona's were produced during the 1st quarter of 2016. Again, the 116519 could have started earlier than V serial, but there was for sure some overlap between the bracelet 116509 and strap 116519 models. I own a 116509 random serial. Warranty card has random serial and correct 116509 info. I'm confident that it was produced in 1st quarter 2013 based on the information I have been able to verify. Very good chance it is one of the last 116509 Slate dials produced before the end of their run. The watch exists....a search of other sites will verify it further if needed. Hope this helps. Regards, Scott |

The only way to get the Blue Superluminova is to purchase a recent random serial version of the 116519 and I think production ended in 1st quarter 2016. There are random serials of the 116519 in both Green and Blue lume. All of the 116509 Slate Dials were done in Green lume. The only way to get blue lume would be to get lucky with a 116509 being sent in for service and getting a service dial with Blue Lume. Regards, Scott |

I believe the red hand makes the wf one youve seen a good chance its a dial swap from the original sale
The all up together version, can be seen on wf a couple of pages later for 23k. I had one of these. Beautiful. Fwiw I sold mine, 2 years old, half of which time it was up for sale, and just seeviced. & totally complete, for 18k Selling WG Daytona isn't easy, buy cheap as you can |

Again, I purchased new as well a 116509 Slate Dial with Random Serial. Love the watch...put it on today as a result of the posts on this thread. It is an amazing watch. I like my 116500LN as well, but this wears just a little larger than the 116500LN and has a totally different look. It was my grail and can't describe the satisfaction in owning it. Regards, Scott |

New is not always better. The Slate dial with the old green lume is a much better choice! In certain light conditions the numbers glow a little purple during daylight. An absolute magnificient effect contrasting with the grey dial, however this effect is much stronger with the green lume dials! I have had them both.

Service dial possiblyl? Rolex is Rolex...could they have a one off with Blue?.....my guess is no on this possibility,......but it is Rolex again and I am just using deductive reasoning. Best Scott |

Cool dial, does require some light to show it’s beauty though. Otherwise a little dull.
