yes, but sports models have a reason for being traditionally larger: larger dials for better visibility, thicker cases for greater water resistance, larger bezels for easier manipulation etc. this is just bigger for the sake of being bigger. i don't get it.

I don't like it. It looks disproportionate and bloated. A DD and a DJ should be 36mm - the perfect size for an elegant watch.

Frankly, I hope that Rolex get burned on this one so they won't bloat out other perfectly beautiful watches.

Well, I did try one on and thought it looked absolutely superb on my wrist.

By the same token, I find the 36 mm models way too small.

Just the way I feel, I guess. If I could really afford one, I'd have it in a heartbeat!!

I couldnt agree with you more.

When I tired on a smooth bezeled DD, it basically had the weight, size, and feel of my Milgauss. Just didn't feel right, or look right.

I still feel the original DD is the classic for all others to be judged.

I stated it many times before....

DD II

Its an AlarmClock for Your Wrist!

If they wanted to do a larger size they should have at least designed the bracelet to scale with larger links...not just a larger end link. Or better yet introduced a new style bracelet like they did for the 39mm Masterpiece line.

The bezel should have also been given more thought as well as the trendy dials.

I think the 36mm DD is for the classic crowd while the beefy larger case watches are for guys over 6'6" and 250lbs. Rappers, sports celebs, and super trendy artsey folk.

...and bald New Zealand sheep lovers, as well!

Seriously, I understand JJ's love for the new model - it is perfectly sized to him. But for me, the DD's eye-catching allure (and, believe me, it catches people's eye) has always been it's bracelet. When Rolex went to 41mm for the DD, the case (to my mind) over-shadowed the bracelet and took away a lot of the model's bling.

That's just my thought - and I also agree that it seems like size for size's sake. I've a feeling that smaller watches are coming back into vogue, and this "DD II" will go the way of the Rolex LED watches. On the other hand, my wife says I'm often wrong....about everything.

I think you also understand the point

Maybe Rolex will design a new bracelet for the DD II in scale to the watch!

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed they were out of whack in scale, brother!

This picture is an idea. But you really have to see them in the flesh.

I like this one, if I could afford it

The DDII above looks out of scale compared to the 36mm

If I could afford it my choice would be the DD-II. They look the mutts. Also agreeing with JJ I hope they give the DJ a bit more size.

That picture of the two DD's....looks like a "his and hers" pic.

That is a significant size difference....I'm starting to get use to the DDII, the bezel is perfect, the dial on the DD looks too big now.

I do not like this big size, the old one looks in my opinion nicer.

Totally agree. . .

. . And disagree with "everything has to get bigger. ." That's why so many Americans are fat slobs. A watch with only a date function going to a trash lid sized size of 41mm is an utterly retarded idea, and I'm absolutely shocked Rolex did this. At least the gorgeous and classic 36mm DD is still available. A waste of metal in my opinion.

I like the DDII, this is why I ordered one... I always wanted a President and they DD is an awesome watch, but the DDII in WG is just stunning... Rolex is just giving us size options in the DD... My next watch will most likey be a YG DD so that I can have both sizes for all occasions...

Here is my mix:

Nice jeans, cool shoes and a nice dress shirt = DDII WG
A suite and tie = DD YG
Just kicking back drinking a beer with friends = SS Sub-Date
