228206 Quadrant dial?

Would you consider this a hot seller? I personally do not since most people are in the GMT, Sub, Daytonas. I am in purchasing in the very near future just wondering if the price range would increase because of the new models? Looking to buy second. I just been eyeing this piece for awhile. I plan to purchase from DavidSw and he said it will be difficult to find one for 51-53k. I responded back asking what is the current market value. I am waiting for his response. Your thoughts are always appreciated! Stay safe!

This dial is discontinued now so ppl and dealers are probably using that as an excuse to charge premium.

I paid $63,250 with no sales tax from an out of state Rolex AD, DavidSW could not give me a time frame so after several months I paid retail.

Why would it go down, now that no AD will receive another one?

My favorite Platinum dial and discontinued. I think the days of getting this for $55k are over.

Because I assume the demand is not insane since most people desire the stainless steel models.

It's a heavy hitter and the anodized blue hands are nice with icy blue dial. Too bad as the price is not within my range.

A year’s tuition at Boston College; a GMC Sierra in Denali trim; six weeks on the Outer Banks; these are the other priorities in my life.

Demand is much less because its a $60k watch!!!! and the customer base at these prices is very very very very low compared to $9k SS Sports.

Ah. Assumptions.

Want to bet $1:$1 on the decline of TS asking price over next twelve months (rubbing hands in anticipation).

Very true which is why I am hoping to get one in the mid 50’s. Ideally 53-55.

I don't know, what do you think the range is?

Havent you been shopping for a plat DD for like the last 6 months? I think you've created numerous threads and pricing threads.

Dude, just pay the market price from a gray or pay the AD. Rolex there is no negotiations these days. The current price is the price. During all this time your spending the price keeps going up and up.

you're not gonna find one for 53k when takuya is listing used stick dials for 60k and the longer you wait for the "perfect" price, the worse it'll get. PM prices have gone crazy across the board and it's just too late now to expect good prices

It’s a beautiful watch. It’s a shame they discontinued that dial

I purchased a used, mint condition stick dial a few months back for $52K, which I thought was a fair price. Retail price is $63,250.

The pre-owned price spread versus the Platona simply reflects demand. That said, I personally prefer the 228206 stick dial...I love it! And that's why I bought it. :)

Hope that helps.

This is very true, I was looking at red subs when I thought 17-19k was too much for an example with nice thick bevels. Now they're 10k more

Last year price and now is completely different.

Now secondary market will ask for premium or at least MSRP, discount day are gone.

I would rather wait and acquire from the boutique/AD, if you want it cheaper, it would be pre-owned.

I think you may be hurting yourself a bit by inquiring around so much for this reference or Pt DD. If I was a seller and knew that you have been after this for so long, I’d try and squeeze every penny out of you that I could. Honestly what’s another $2-5k when you are already spending this kind of money. To be brutally honest, DSW is actually being too gracious. Many people would assume you are a perpetual tire kicker and just ignore you.

Is the Op still searching for his Pt DD40? He done multiple threads since like last year I think. All this time you'd be kicking yourself over a few grand here and there.

These are $70k+ now

Because they can then judge interest. If they spier asked 10 times about the watch someone will take it and they will not lower price. If no one asked for a certain watch during a year and finally there is one request, they might want to squeeze cash out of you but might agree to lower the price if you negotiate successfully.

228206 Quadrant dial?

As pointed out by others, this dial has been discontinued. Accordingly, although I don’t expect to see crazy run up like we saw on the green sub, it is probably safe to assume that, as long as the Rolex market as a whole remains strong, the cost of this piece will stay steady or slowly increase. If this is truly the watch for you, you are probably better off pulling the trigger sooner rather than later.
