AD to limit 3 purchases per year. Anyone heard of this?

It seems like there is a rumor going around the internet that Rolex ADs will now only sell 3 watches per year per customer. (1 SS, 1 TT and 1 PM)

Anyone actually confirmed or heard this from their AD recently?

Pretty sure that rumor started from Paul Thorpe, who is far and away the most insufferable watch guy on YouTube. I don't give it a lot of credibility.

Hey, I posted this about 2 years ago and I got laughed at. I'm on my phone so unable to post a link to the thread.

In 2017 I was informed by Goldsmiths whom I have a "decent" relationship with that you are only allowed 3 pieces per year... That year I acquired a BLNR, SD43 and a LV.

Last week the same manager informed me that it is now 3 pieces a year - end of, I was like eh? She states only 3 watches (any brand per year) I was kind of puzzled and didn't challenge it much as ultimately she has been guilty of "bundle selling"

I assume (if true) this has been bought in place in order for AD's to stop cheating us? And to stop making us buy 9 DJ's for that Daytona..?

Even if it were true, which it isn't, what's to stop a client from sending his wife, sibling, friend, colleague, etc etc etc to collect a watch on his behalf.

Nothing to see here folks.

I would think that telling sales staff that they can't sell anything, and therefore can't make commission money, would be pretty much a hard sell.

Short of perhaps the Sultan of Brunei or Bono, who exactly has been getting more than three Rolexes in a single calendar year? Maybe you would get three Rolexes if you robbed an AD, but even that seems rather doubtful.

YMMV. They've told me 1 stainless per year at the beginning of the year, including datejust 41.

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire... This is BEFORE the guy in England picked up on it.

https://www.rolexforums.com/showthre...3#post11551003

Clearly, there was a recent nudge/directive from the big R on this.

Next, he’ll be reporting that WOS is doing a pilot program to gauge the reaction to exhibition models in the display cases.

Not true with my outstanding SA.... I was able to buy 3 SS watches in January alone. I hope this information will help put that fake news to rest.

Its true in Australia. All professional models are only 1 per year. I'm sure if you are a baller that 'rule' would slide

No, sadly. That would actually solve the gray market problem now wouldn't it. Cant have that. Too much $$$$ out there being made by flippers and the gray market.

I know my AD won't sell you the same reference twice but are they really going to stop a customer from buying 3 diamond encrusted ladies DateJusts? I highly doubt that...

The problem isn't what ADs are selling, the problem is what Rolex is supplying ADs with to sell. We used to get 1 decent watch out of a batch of a dozen. So when you have all these dogs sitting in your showcase you dump it on the grey market.

The ADs are still getting plenty of hot watches. All of them.

I was told the same but limited to 3 sports model p.a
in late 2019. But does it matters? I have got none of them over 2 yrs already. Haha.
But I bought DJ36 this year and another SA didn't mention this anymore.

Me, a wealthy man: “Hi I would like 1 brilliant dial two tone date just, 1 gold sky dweller, 1 day date and 1 yacht master in everose with diamants dial”

AD: “no can do, policy says I can’t make thousands of profit”

Nonsense. Only limit is how much you are willing to spend.

Lies bro. Clickbait nonsense. Common sense alone says this is just more trash “AD says” bs.
Also, wording matters. Rolex doesn’t give a crap, warrantee cards even went to just a date with no name. When people say “Rolex” says: that really means, YouTuber needs more views, “AD says” usually means that AD doesn’t want to sell you anything, bugger off.

Even more bs is the irony that you can’t buy more than three, bro, we can’t even buy one.
