Does a Tudor deserve space on a Rolex forum?

Been a Rolex purist for decades. Never, ever considered a Tudor.
Yet, Tudor posts make up a small but visible New Threads.
Why not dedicate space purely for Tudor away from Rolex General Discussion?

They're essentially the same brand and Rolex posts outnumber Tudor 75:1 anyway. All is well!

Well, they just opened a co-branded boutique in NYC, so it seems Rolex is okay with the brands rubbing shoulders.

I believe it’s an outreach effort from the TRF moderators, to allow the poverty-stricken rubes wearing Tudor to be able to learn class, taste, sophistication, and refinement from their Rolex-collecting superiors.

I’ve always wondered why Tudor didn’t have their own dedicated sub forum..

Tudor is Rolex.

This might appear to be an easy hair to split but where do you stop?

I would miss Tudor if it left the main section.

I was in this same boat for a couple decades......now I don't own a single Rolex, but I do own a Tudor. Try not to let the poor rub off on you.

Ditto.

And besides, Tudors are actually obtainable, so it's nice to see something posted besides "how much other crap do I have to buy to get a new Rolex?" thread.

I have never thought it was an issue, and personally I have enjoyed learning about Tudor watches, both old and current.

It would not hurt to give Tudor owners their own Tudor specific area in the larger Rolex forum if that was something they would desire, but given the historic connection from the days back when Tudors had Rolex cases and other parts, and given the ongoing relationship between the two companies, it does not seem inappropriate to have one place for both brands.

It is not as if Rolex is like Omega, which has numerous sister watch companies with no history or connection to each other under the Swatch Group umbrella. Having just one sister company with a strong historical connection, makes it seem natural and reasonable. At least one other watch forum I frequent also combines forum space for Tudor and Rolex.

At some point, the increased popularity of Tudor watches might make the lack of a Tudor specific forum space here an issue. I am not aware of any Tudor specific forum website, but I could see a Tudor specific forum website becoming a possibility, and Tudor owners might make use of that alternative resource.

So if there would be a separate area it should not be to exclude the Tudor watch owners, but perhaps to recognize them as worthy of a greater individualized co-equal area (i.e., not just the "little sister of Rolex" perspective).

Playing devil's advocate here for the OP...

Clicking on an "Incoming" thread and seeing a Tudor is just meh for me, and not because Rolex figuratively sits higher up on the horological totem pole. There are many Tudor specific characteristics (snowflake hands and riveted bracelet come to mind) that are far removed from modern Rolex specific characteristics and lead me to have zero interest in the watch.

Don't think this is so much an us vs. them argument as the Tudor loyalists lead with...just two very different watch brands for those with an eye for detail.

Does a Tudor deserve space on a Rolex forum?

Did the poor man wearing a Tudor rustle a Rolex purist’s feathers this morning?

Most members that are worth noting own and wear both Rolex and Tudor and don’t have a problem with both of them being on the main forum.

If only us poor Tudor owners would try harder to fit in

Is it safe to wear my 500 meter rated Pelagos in the bath tub?

Will I be mugged on the spot when I step foot in any major city or foreign country with my Tudor?

I found a minuscule scratch on the back of my Black Bay lug, who do I sue?

Do I need to send my SA flowers and chocolates the next day to get my new Tudor, or is the weekly dinner date enough?

Should I buy this Tudor that I don't like, because someone else does like it and will buy it if I don't? Should I not wear the watch I don't like so it doesn't ruin future value just to be safe?

Nothing wrong with Tudor having their own forum. They have enough of a following to support it. Personally, I don’t care either way, but it makes sense to me to separate Rolex and Tudor.

The intertwined military and diving histories of the brother brands are enough for most actual collectors. That Slattery fellow spent some exciting years blowing shit up in the muddy rivers of Vietnam wearing his issued Tudor sub. I get a distinct feeling if Tudor had a choice they probably wouldn't want to hang out with you. :)

Or could it be that the savvy, value recognising Tudor lovers, who love watches not the madness of crowds; are making our Rolex brothers nervous?

I have both, and JCL's and Omega's and always gravitate to my BB58's when I want class not brash

BTW. (this is sarcasm: I love both)

Given the Rolex forum give space to Omega is it too much to ask for Rolex's sister company to have a dedicated space?

It is the opposite for me the modern Rolexes have lost what made the brand so distinctive and Tudor is recreating the watches my Father and uncles wore and made me fall in love with the brand as a child in the late fifties and sixties.

I look at a Tudor and I see the history and uniqueness of Rolex's bygone age. I look at the new Subs and GMT's and I feel I'm looking at a watch that is a year or two behind Omega for design and innovation and radically different to the watches I remember.

Add to that that I can actually see a Tudor in the stores! and afford one without the pain of Grey Market prices.

But to each there own, as the saying goes you cannot debate taste and younger members probably don't carry the personal experiences and reminiscing of the earlier Rolex sports models
