I would take a light polish. It’s SS, no harm in polishing it if done properly. It doesn’t need much anyway, and it will look brand new
At the money you are going to pay, having it look and feel like brand new is the way to go. Enjoy it, you’re going to love it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I will echo that at the current used retail prices, these watches are underwhelming. For close to 40K there are so many other watches out there on the secondary market in precious metal with interesting complications.

I’m pretty sure most watches at grays in “excellent” condition have a light polish they’ve done… I’m nearly certain I’ve sold them some and then when they are listed the condition has improved. In other words a light polish will make it seem like new and I really doubt it will “kill” the value.

If I were going to pay market price from a grey dealer I’d buy BNIB. There isn’t that much difference in price and I would never pay 2x+ MSRP for a watch that looked like that. There are literally hundreds of these for sale.

I'm fine with the scratches but then again I like old houses, old guitars and old cars. All my watches are worn regardless of what I'm doing and they all have the fine scratches seen on this Daytona, I keep them clean though. £25k buys you a clean scratch free 116500 over here.

Thanks, it seems like the BNIB is a bit more of a premium but I get your point.

I am very OCD but find that if a piece is scratch free I do not wear it often! Whereas if it has a few marks, I am more relaxed and able to enjoy. And PCLs bracelets are a scratch magnet and no matter how careful I am, they always seem to collect scratches within weeks, even when carefully worn! I'd say, don't polish especially if still with factory finish. If previously polished a light buff should remove those hairline scratches and give the watch a cleaner look.

What do you guys look for in a good polish? What are the deepest scuffs a polish can get rid of?

I don't see any serious scratches on the photo.
This is oyster bracelet that always has scratches. I polish my RG oyster bracelet myself every 6 months and my watch always looks like new. I would recommend to buy this polishing cloth Cape Code, if your watch does not have deep scratches, you can always maintain it in a good condition. Watch this video. And you can find it on Ebay. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NcPovp_qTg&t=183s |

Hard to tell from the pictures and by no means am I an expert, but looks as if it’s already been polished to me. The “brushed” lines are not as crisp as they should be…
Her are mine, the white face brand new as I was picking it up, the black one year old, neither have been polished |

If you're paying Grey Market prices, might as well pay up for a BNIB or Mint/Excellent..doesn't make sense to pay almost 3X for the watch and not have it to your liking

I agree, depending on price. If you’re paying 26k let’s say ( i know that’s way off for white) then i wouldn’t mind worn. If it’s 33k, i would rather find a new one unworn or pay slightly more for unworn. Point being, if it’s worn i don’t want to pay anything near unworn pricing and i don’t like polishing. Personally I could never pay those insane gray prices.
It's just a watch, but hey it's not my decision, is it. On the other hand, you do not know what kind of good or crap polish job they would do, so I would pass on that. If it needs, or you want polishing, send it to Rolliworks.

For the price the steel Daytonas are going for you can get a gold Daytona on gold bracelet. They are easier to get retail but buy what you want man! Vale Tudo!
