Maybe it is the blue dial that makes is look lighter. I think a sunburst dial would be great like the bluesy.

Oh boy now you’re talking, would be amazing. That actually makes sense. Went from black to sunburst green back to black. Next up flat green…might be onto something!

Agreed! Don't get rid of it, you will not be happy with yourself! I traded mine a few years ago and really regret it.

Really wish they had gone with a blue dial on the new one. I like the blue/black but not enough to spend that kind of money on it.

Tough to pick between the two but I'd choose the new 41.

It really is a stunning watch in person.

I rode the train for Rome to Firenze and sat across from a guy wearing one. He was a younger Italian man, (I assume) dressed to the nines. He was working on his lap top so I had a perfect view of the watch for the entire trip

What struck me most was just how “not” blue it looked. I mean you could tell it was blue but it looks nothing like the bright flat blue in most pictures. Much more subtle than that.

Cool pic but doesn't represent anything what the 116619LB looks like in real life.

WG Sub: side-by-side pic of new vs old

Smurf…nothing else like it by Rolex that comes to mind and it’s a collectible piece (relatively speaking). Although it was produced in 2008 for 12 years , the production was low (by Rolex standards) as the submariner crowd balked at the pricing and use of white gold for a ‘tool watch’ and took their money a different direction. Such a controversial piece at the time….anyways that’s my long answer as I drink my coffee on this Sunday morning with my feet up, dog laying by my side and a warm fire going while responding to questions on watches…my passion. Have fun!

I think that the main dilemma is that a snap on blue bezel that technically converts any SS sub into a WG pretender is the obvious downfall of the newer version. The smurf is infinitely more difficult to copy.

Here are some more pics I just snapped in different lighting conditions.

I just love the different looks in gives me due to lighting.

I have seen this watch twice before on someone else in my travels, and though I love this watch, when I saw it on someone else, I knew it was a keeper. It is so different and imposing because of its unique colors.

In that sense I think AP RO is naturally positioned for anti counter fitting measures. So many details at each step to have to copy. Not worth it when can just counter fit 5711 or Rolex!

Smurf all day every day and by a mile. I will never part with mine, it will go to my nephew when I move on from this life.

I definitely prefer the larger lugs. The case somehow has more presence imo. Beautiful watches in any case!!

I had the smurf and I’m considering getting the new one. Is the case of the 41 noticeably larger? Is the bracelet the same or also larger?
