Heads up Doha Airport

Was just through Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar last night and the Rolex shop has been closed because they can’t get any stock. Just letting you know in case you had plans on stopping while.

It’s officially closed because they cannot get stock?
Hmm....

Zurich Airport - pretty much a wasteland in the last couple of weeks. Prices are high generally when factoring currency. Even the staff at IWC were lethargic.

It’s a shame you think this is a trolling post because it’s my first post. I thought I was giving information that I was aware of. Because it’s my first post should not negate the information that can be easily verified. I’ve read this forum for a while, but never felt I had anything to add until a store I’ve been to has closed. Excuse me for posting.

That being said, the AD in the Wafi Mall in Dubai l has a few Yacht Masters (both Rhodium and Blue dials) in stock and on the shelf. All of the Dubai Rolex AD are owned by the same company Ahmed Sediqi & Sons, but I only visited the Wafi AD. I couldn’t help but pick up the Rhodium YM. It’s just a clean, beautiful timepiece. Understated elegance. I’m glad it doesn’t have the hype that the Pepsi’s and such have now, because it feels like a timepiece for a more discerning person.

That location has been pulled from rolex.com so it's true that it has been closed.

However, this isn't the first AD to get the axe and blame it on an inability to get stock. Chances are high the real reason isn't that simple.

Thanks for sharing. Saved me the trouble of rushing over there while on stopover.

Thank you. Both Doha AD’s are owned by conglomerate Fifty One East. I was just passing along the information I was given. I travel extensively and based in the Middle East and browse airports myself.

I was at Doha airport ...nothing to write home about

No matter where you go
There is NOT a Rolex shop that displays (like they should) the entire model line.
Since the Rolex official AD black market in sports desirable models is alive and well

Rolex and the Ex-Zenith guy who runs the company has now added to the
GREY dealer existence ...the official Rolex dealer Black-Market watches
...what these ADs do is the following
Because they are afraid of the public’s complaints- they only sell the goods destined for
the black market via a small network of trusted grey dealers or private flippers.

Therefore you can buy IMMEDIATELY any hard to get Rolex watch ...if you pay the black market price
Go and look how many steel Sky dwellers BLUE dial are for sale at Chrono24
Or Daytonas or pepsies or Batman or hulks or anything else you like.

Hans Wilsdorf never wanted this absolutely disgusting situation to be part of his Rolex Co.

Rolex worries about pulling the stickers out of new watches ...but they do nothing
For the rampant black market ...such idiots

Thanks for sharing. But my understanding is that all ADs in Qatar, including the one at the airport are owned by the same person(s) so stock might not be the reason they closed it!
Rolex ADs mysteries never end!!

Thanks for sharing. I’m passing through in 2 weeks. I had hoped to have a quick look. I assume there is no Tudor either?

If I understand correctly, if I do see a Rolex and purchase it at the Rolex duty free shop at the airport, I pay no VAT. If I purchase a Rolex in that foreign city I do pay the VAT and then submit the refund paperwork while at the airport before departing? Thanks

Sorry I thought it was quite helpful in the "Hive Mind" TRF way.

I'm obviously much slower at understanding the post counts thingy as OP was at 92 or so when you said this???? Do I need to be some sort of detective/deep dive tech?

Exactly what's happening. Unless u're super VIP / extremely lucky u can't get a decent watch anymore. These ADs don't even pretend anymore.
