If you want to buy pricey stuff look at more high end makers such as my favorite JPF. Starting prices are equivalent to top of the line at Rolex. A good way to spend your monies.
For exemple, this one ought to make happy long enough. |

appreciate fpj for what they are but it's not nearly as versatile as a rolex. you can wear a gold rolex with anything and any day and that's a huge part of why it's worth the money. what other watches can be beaters (if needed) in full gold?

So now I have a 14060M and a Speedmaster. I feel silly wearing kids' watches with cartoon names. Think I'll sell them and buy another Oyster Perpetual.

I got my first full gold Rolex back in 2017. I have purchased SS after that but rarely wear them. I have traded a couple of them towards full PM. Something quite magical about wearing a full gold Rolex. Espically the weight, which I really noticed as I have both the BLRO in WG and SS. WG gets the wrist action of the two.

Not for me. Tend to wear gold pieces a little more sparingly. I like two tone as a 24/7 watch or steel. If I’m wearing gold I will usually change it up for something else by the end of the day. Don’t really have a reason why maybe it’s to keep that “special” feeling by not wearing them as much.

Once I started to buy PM I never wore my SS pieces after that.
I sold off probably 6-7 SS Rolex and I only have 3 left which I also never wear. I'm very close to getting rid of the rest of the SS pieces and buy a platinum piece which I dont have. |

For me it is less of PM vs steel but since I got my Osterflex Daytona I have not worn any of my other watches for 4 months straight! Oysterflex is just so comfortable on my wrist. Still love my steel watches but had 0 wrist time on them

I was in the same position not long ago, totally found I couldn't go back to stainless steel after buying a day date.
However I now have a new feeling of can't go back to wearing a mass produced mid tier Rolex in precious metal since moving up to true high horology with an ALS and a Breguet! |
