I love this. I am inspired and plan to do this as well. Screw these guys who are marking everything up. I've been on a list for a year. I've bought three Rolexes and a ton of jewelry but still unlikely I will see anything.

That was fun to follow. Thanks for paying it forward, and a grand congratulations to the new Explorer 1 owner! Wasn't interested in the watch, and due to the current state of the market I have halted my plan of buying a Rolex. Started with a Tudor and have since turned to brands that do not have so much social media coverage. Still appreciate what they do at Rolex but my time for one will have to wait.

A bit saddened that there hasn't been an incoming and "thank you" posted by the lucky recipient- perhaps some pics of him, ( or her ), taking off the stickers.....

This is an amazing idea OP. I’m glad it went to a good home. The buyer should now do the same and if it happens to be the watch OP really wants he gets first right of refusal. We should keep this going for sure!

That was cool. I missed out on the chance but it was a nice refreshing read. If anyone wants to do the same and runs across a new Candy Pink OP36 let me know. I won't pay the gray but want one for my wife who was diagnosed in 2020 with breast cancer. Had a double mastectomy in January and just finished her reconstruction surgery early last month. Although they will never say you "beat" it they did say she is as good as beaten it. I will eventually find one at an AD come hell or high water.
Cheers. |

I love it and I may just join you. Next time I see pretty much any s/s Rolex at msrp, I may grab it and offer it here as well. Power to us people. It's gotta be a guarantee to sell here regardless. Since I am not after any Rolex pieces atm it will be first come first serve.
I too, would like to buy OP a drink ! PM next time you're in the Bay Area. |

I think few watches are re-sold to on-line dealers. There aren't a whole lot of reputable used dealers and they get a few pieces each week of the various sports models. But how many does Rolex produce in a year. A million pieces. If they all ended up on-line the whole secondary market would implode. I think most buyers keep their watches at least for a time to see if they are a good fit. Because on-line dealers put them on their websites and many of these dealers share the same watches, it appears there are tons out there but that may not be true, hence, the large used watch markups from MSRP.

Why no post by the lucky winner? Did it fall through at the end?.
