Rolex just terminated 6 US AD's

My AD source won't divulge the names yet, but they already know. If any forum members find out locally, please post. Thanks.

Did they tell you that you were next in line for a white or black Daytona at the same time?

How is anyone supposed to answer such an open ended question without knowing what city or region?

Did you ask when it would become public news? or do they have some time to try and sell more diamonds along with their watches etc?

Sign of the times. Large, multi-location ADs in large metro areas are the future of the Rolex distribution network. Small- and medium-sized cities do not appear to be part of Rolex’s strategic focus going forward.

I see an AD in Missoula Montana is no longer on the Rolex dealer map. They were there a couple weeks ago

As the smaller city ADs close, it'll only get harder and harder to get a watch. Not everyone is willing to travel a few hours to get to a big city. And those that do won't be high up any list to begin with.

Sorry OP but the US is a big country. Without even a basic idea of north, south, east, west or even a hint of a region, I can’t see how anyone could assist.

Time will tell.. I'm sure someone will notice that their AD is no longer.. Sad though. It's usually the smaller market that will be closed, or a market with more than one AD, and a Rolex boutique will be constructed. The others will be terminated, such as the case in Boston.

Very plausible that Rolex ended some AD relationships. Continue to concentrate the watches in the hands of even fewer.

If your AD is in a smallish town and only has one store selling Rolex, you better get in there and beg for whichever model you've been dying for. I think those are most at risk. Unless they're willing to create a brand new beautiful boutique somewhere.

I think a good baseline is this… If Rolex didn’t ask them to create a separate Rolex boutique… It’s a good sign they aren’t willing to invest in that AD moving forward.

I'm guessing at least some of these terminations were dealers who simply weren't willing to commit to the Rolex corporate buildout requirement of their showrooms when they can't get enough watches to justify the expense. From what I understand, the costs are astronomical, as in hundreds of thousands of dollars to just do the minimum requirement, and a decent sized showroom can run $1-2m. How many independent AD's get enough inventory to pay for a $1m remodel?

It's hard to fathom they make enough to cover the remodel to begin with, especially with limited supply.

I always check to see if a small city AD I’ve been in is still there. So far yes but I worry for them.

*FREDRIC H. RUBEL JEWELERS‬ has/had 2 stores Rolex locations Mission Viejo mall and Laguna Beach, I did not see Mission Viejo Mall location on the Rolex site. That mall has really declined that could be one of the 6.

St Louis has 2 AD. One has committed to renovate a room just for Rolex. Time will tell, based on what I have seen in other cities.

My guess by the OP’s screen name he is from Massachusetts. He mentions Boston in one reply and his name is probably after the Kittanset Golf Club.
Not sure if that helps anyone but that is my guess for his location.

No surprise here at all.

There will be many more indy, family owned Rolex AD in the USA being relieved of their AD status in the coming years.

As said before, the shift is to larger metro areas that will make better use of precious inventory.

By comparison, I really have no clue how AD status is assigned in Buneos Aires! So many right next to each other.

Can’t the same be said about Hong Kong? Aren’t there like 50 there? That’s almost 5x as many as NYC and NYC is larger than Hong Kong.
