Allocation in Batches?

I recently sold my Omega Speedmaster to Bob’s Watches. I was talking to the purchaser about the current market, and he shared with me an interesting observation: they get a lot of selling inquiries on certain models seemingly in waves. For example, mid-September when I sold the watch, he said they were getting a lot of traction with the BLNR, where a number of people must’ve just received that watch in the past few days and were flipping.

Has this practice by Rolex been confirmed—models released in batches? I’m sure ADs receive a some other models in a shipment, but I am curious if allocations lean more heavily with one model each time.

I've noticed that.
Check the incoming posts on here and you'll see they come around the same time for the same models

I also wonder if it’s regional with the allocation.

Regarding incoming posts here, I don’t follow them super closely, but it’s something different all the time to me—not where I’d notice a brief trend (e.g. a lot of people getting BLNRs within a week span).

It’s been like this as far as I remember or at least since I joined TRF. Yesterday there were at least 3 Pepsi on oyster bracelet incomings from AD.

Agree - probably released in waves of quality control from Geneva. Each model gets allocated "time" on the assembly line - makes sense to do a few hundred or even thousand BLNRs at the same time.

I noticed the number of 116610LVs incoming went up noticeably in the three months before it was discontinued. I also remember (I think) a glut of BLRO incomings at one point in the last 12 months or so. Generally speaking, I don't believe in pure coincidence but we're a very small cross section and there isn't enough to go on. Same for one grey trader. Only a small sample, but better positioned to see trends, or appetent trends. I guess that when it comes to any retailer, possibly some more than others, the narrative is whatever is necessary to drive their business and may not be a true reflection of a situation. Easy to do with Rolex because so little is known.

Same as 116520. It was relatively obtainable just half year before it announced discontinued.
