Sport Rx Glasses for Golf
My 15 year old golfing sunglasses finally gave up the ghost. I'm looking for a good quality replacement and have looked at the usual suspects i.e. Adidas, Oakley and a few others. My current pair had a polycarbonate front lens with snap in Rx inserts. The front lens was changeable so I could use a clear one on cloudy days and tinted for sunny days. It all worked well but was a bit of a pain sometimes to swap them.
During my search I'm finding products that use the same insert system but also ones that have a full Rx front lens with no inserts. If anyone here has experience with both versions my question would be which did you prefer and why. I also found a product by Rudy Project that looks very interesting. They're designed specifically for golf. I've added the web link below. I'm not familiar with their products. Has anyone here purchased these glasses or any of their sport Rx models? I'm looking for comments on quality, fit and general results. Thanks for the help. https://www.rudyprojectna.com/pages/golf

I don’t have much specific info to help but know that Rudy Project’s cycling glasses are very high quality.

As a cyclist I have used Rudy on and off for 20 years. Their products are very high quality.

These guys in Denver are the best for sports and tactical shooting glasses.
https://sportsoptical.com/ I have had several pairs made by them including Rudy Project. They do work with out of state customers. Plus, its a veteran owned business.

I’ve been wearing Oakley golf glasses for 20 years. Now they have a specific shade just for golf, and it’s great. Oakley Prism golf is worth looking into.

I've checked them out and they are definitely in the running. Read a lot about the Prism lens. Are yours Rx?

Top quality results. These guys really know what they are doing. I will probably have a set of rx ski googles made this year as well.

Lots of things to consider….age, Rx, lens material, tint, etc…
Without the details….I'd suggest a single vision distance lens in trivex. Personally, I like a polarized lens, and technically a brown tint helps with contrast better than gray, but that is debatable. Do you want them to be sunglasses, or just clear lenses to golf in? Brand likely doesn't matter a whole lot, but I prefer Maui Jim, Oakley, or Bolle. Rudy Project is good as well, but not my preference. |

they are not, i wear contacts. I have had Oakley prescription lenses and they did not work for me for golf. They slightly changed the normal viewing angle and i couldn’t play in them. For anything outside of golf i think they would be perfect. They were really expensive though, something like $400 with the prescription lenses. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Costa Del Mar’s, they’re primarily used by fishermen( myself included) and they make fantastic quality lenses. I have several pairs including a pair with readers ground in, fantastic clarity. I do know others who have prescription version and all thumbs up.
https://www.costadelmar.com/en-us/pr...ion-sunglasses Randolph is another brand I’m partial to that make great sunglasses including prescriptions. Supplier of sunglasses to US Military pilots. https://www.randolphusa.com/ |
