Oyster Perpetual & Datejust owners - how strong is your lume?

Sorry if this has been addressed previously, but these particular watches don't have the large lume plots that the professional series watches do. It makes perfect sense that we aren't going to get "bright like a torch" lume with these watches, since only a fraction of the lume is being used for our markers and hands, but how long do yours last after being fully charged?

My OP36 is an 11 series from 2015 so it is using the green Superluminova, not the blue Chromalight that the new 12 series use. When I fully charge mine, it starts off really bright and then quickly fades as I watch it.

I saw No Time to Die on Sunday and right before I walked into the theater I charged it up in the sun. By about 2/3rds into the movie I really needed to take a restroom break (long movie and large iced coffee ) so I tried to check my watch to see where we were in the film. My lume wasn't visible at all. Granted, I only briefly charged it in the sun instead of letting it sit for a few minutes, but is that pretty typical fade time? I thought for sure that the lume plots would still be at least somewhat visible.

I definitely could have charged it longer and since I was watching a movie, I am sure my eyes weren't completely adjusted to the dark, but do any of you also notice that your lume fades pretty quickly with these pieces?

My 2020 DJ36 is visible all night, can still read it at 7am. But, in your circumstance you were staring at a very bright movie screen before you checked your watch. I don't think any lume is going to be very visible in that circumstance.

I bet your pupils were constricted from the bright movie screen, so when you glanced at your watch your pupils were likely not dilated yet so it would have been difficult to see the lume. There was probably lume present you just couldn’t see it.

OP 39, black dial. Lume terrible, especially on the hands...where you need it more than anywhere!

Quick update. After taking all of your advice I charged it last night and went to bed. I didn't sleep very well and woke up a few times during the night. I had set my watch on my nightstand before bed and turned it so I could see the face.

Sure enough, in a dark room with eyes well adjusted to the dark, I could see it just fine even after a few hours.

Well, the lume on my 36mm Datejust isn't anything to shout about, but it does the job for awhile.

Then again I don't think the Datejust and OP range were ever meant to have an all night lasting lume

Depending on the persons eyes how dark the room is when viewing, and how charged the lume is when viewing effects the lume glow. But because in general the lume plots and hand lume surface area on Rolex watches are quite small. And in general the more lume surface area the greater the glow will seem its that simple.

The thing thats far more important is when you wake up and see your watch it proves you are still alive, now thats far more important than worring over lume glow. Take my advice forget about your lume and get a good nights sleep that will do you more good.

The lume on my OP36 did not seem nearly as strong as on my OP41. Maybe it is the size difference but I thought the batons were the same size

Yes, they are the factors that contribute to the OP39's simply terrible lume.
