Modded Rolex?
They charge good money for these modded Rolex. People seemingly buy them? What’s the attraction? I believe that Artisans de Geneve get the donor watches directly from Rolex, and since they’re also based in Switzerland right down the block from Rolex HQ I guess there’s some kind of unwritten or tacit understanding?
What’s the TRF consensus on these modded Rolex’s? Applause or blasphemy?

Artisans de Geneve get the watches directly from the customer I believe. There is/was something on their site about that and their non-affiliation with Rolex. I'd say, some of them are pretty interesting but not for me, financially or otherwise.

I agree some are intriguing, but likewise not for me. I see that Artisans have also now taken to modding Pateks too.

I commissioned a custom Daytona 6263 built on a 116520, but not through AdG, rather by a private artisan friend. I still have a stock 116520 black dial and a 116500 white dial.

It’s a great way to get what you want. I don’t see anything wrong with that.

Many people modify their high end cars. You can’t stop them. They do as they please. As long as you know that resale is not likely to be good, do as you please. Artisans has made some very nice watches. They must have an agreement with Rolex since they remove the Rolex dials but they they reapply the Rolex name to their skeletonized dials.
