Cellini to be banished from the U.S.
There is nothing official from RUSA according to my nearby AD. But the reps have been hearing from ADs about getting watches that don’t move at retail counters. By “don’t” I should say slow movers.
In that ADs case he was advised to put the Cellini’s in with the Classic/fashion types of Rolexes. Just a marketing suggestion by the reps. I would always see 5-6 same models there for a year or more. So, on the reason for the empty Cellini slots now happening, have we considered that secondary market sellers might now be required to take 1 or 2 Cellini’s in a package deal for the 1 hot Professional model being sold to them? If I was an AD doing such things, that’s how I would turn that Cellini inventory quicker. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Love mine, classy watch and like the larger size than most other dress watches.

I do not know any of this for certain … so I’m just throwing it out there for discussion …
Why would Rolex source Alligator Straps from the USA, to build a Cellini in Switzerland ? I suspect the Cellini line is being phased out … USA first … due to the lack of demand. Sad to me, because I think they are beautiful watches, and I hate to see them go. |

Don’t know what the hate is all about. I think they are killer watches and have a very hefty weight to them.

When I picked up an Explorer several weeks ago, I was wearing a Cellini. The AD SA said that Cellini demand was high and had a decent waitlist.

Not sure why the waitlist to pay full retail. You can find any Cellini way below list on Chrono24 and eBay.

Good riddance. Probably the 2nd worst Rolex watch after the Air King.

Always liked them, but I don't need a dress watch. Too bad.

I think the Rolex Cellini is a beautiful watch.
I do not think you HAVE to wear it with a suit, with Black Tie … to weddings, funerals, formal parties, etc. … but I do wear it on those occasions. I find the need to own a dress watch … and love the Rolex Cellini. And, when you compare the way they look, the durability, and the price, versus other “big” name watch makers, I think the Cellini comes out near the top. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If you want to “fun it up” / have something that fits dressy and casual, look to the Cellini Moonphase … the best of both worlds …

Rolex swing and a miss with the whole Cellini marketing concept.
If Rolex had dropped the Cellini BS and just made a cool dress watch ala the PP Calatrava it would have worked much better IMO. |

Love the Cellini - somewhere on rolex forums I once said I like the Cellini better than the Daytona. Don’t own either at this point, but I still stand by this opinion. Moreover, for current gray Daytona prices you can get way better pieces.

If I had a nickel for every time that this was posted on TRF, I'd be able to buy a Daytona at market price by now lol
FYI I just saw a Cellini in my AD's case... |

That's too bad. They are really cool watches....if not a bit too pricey. I'd love to add one to my collection but I'd probably purchase it used.

Why kill yourself making a highly refined gold watch that will be a slow seller at $40k when you can slap together a basic SS chrono and get the same price?
