I had a pocket watch that gained incredible time after a so-called "watchmaker" <a poser> broke the balance pivot. Found out later he had no school training whatsoever!
Cost me a small fortune to have it overhauled again, but this time by a "real" watchmaker who put it back to factory specs. Perhaps you too have "something" broken. Or as Larry said, a tangled spring from a hard knock.
