My Rolex was stolen from my hotel room today
I have been in Dallas Tx for the past week, I was due to go back home today to California and I left the hotel for about 1 hour went to eat and go put gas in my rental car. I had just finished packing my luggage. So when I came back to the room my suitcase was open and My stuff was rummaged through. The watch and box were gone luckily it was just a blue datejust 41. Serial 1EE53773. Im 100% sure that housekeeping stole the watch.I even stayed at the hotel again today to see if it turns up. I notified the hotel and they called the police. Several police and detectives came and interviewed the only 2 housekeepers. They were not even suppose to be in my room with my stuff in there. Not much more info hotel manager asked me for a invoice of the watch. So do I contact my insurance or Hilton? I had not insured this one yet as I just got it a couple days ago. This is a reminder to my TRF friends be more careful please. Merry Christmas and stay safe guys.

Wow. That is crazy. What did the hotel manager say? Are they going to cover it?

Whose your insurance carrier? Some offer a new purchase coverage meaning they’ll cover up to a certain percentage of your new watch without it being on your policy for the first 90 days. For example, Hodinkee/Chubb offers this up to 25% of the total policy limit.
I’d go ahead and provide the hotel manager a copy of your invoice and go from there. |

Do you normally travel with the box? Or was it purchased while on your trip?

Damn I’m very sorry to hear that. I would have the hotel take care of it. Especially if only 2 housekeeping personnel were working that night and they clearly knew someone walked inside your room

Shame. And I wouldn’t say it was “just” a Datejust. Hope it works out for you.

I'm curious if they would be able to see which keys accessed the room during that timeframe.

Jeez Danny what a crappy turn of events. Probably a Christmas you’ll always remember for the wrong reasons. Had a little bit of that happen to me last night with our family dog but that’s a different story.
Anywho I hope you can recover some of your losses and I guess better in your hotel than out on the street if you know what I mean. Good luck brother.

Does Hilton not have digital logs of who/when the door was unlocked?
Assuming it was a digital door lock, with either a keycard, or digital key.... Most Hilton properties do I believe. If no digital key logs, they do keep hallway video logs, and should be able to see who at the very least, entered your hallway/room around the time frame you were absent from the hotel or room.

Sorry to hear that. Probably best to keep valuables in the safe next time (if it has one)

While you can't rule anything out at this point, I tend to think a housekeeper/room maid has way too much at stake to risk stealing from a hotel guest.

The hotel should have an electronic record of who's keycard was used to access the your room. Plus video from the security cameras in the hallways, elevators, etc.
99.9% its one of the cleaning staff. They probably saw the Rolex box while they were cleaning your room, and came back later while your were gone. |

Sounds like an admission of guilt to me. She opened the door, something was stolen, i would make a very large problem for the hotel. |

One reason to wear your watch at all times or keep it in site at a minimum. Sorry to hear about the theft..

Sorry to hear about this. Hopefully it is recovered or you can get reimbursed through insurance somehow or the hotel.
By any chance is there any video cameras in the hall where they can see everyone that entered your room during that 1 hour period?

It sounds like this happened in the morning before you checked out? If so, why would the cleaning person be in your room anyway? Since when do hotels clean the room before you leave? |
