Opinions on this GMT 16750

The date magnification looks a little weak to me (i.e. not 2.5x) compared to my GMT II with sapphire crystal. Your expert opinions on the authenticity are appreciated.

Thanks.

Cyclops looks highly suspect, might just be the angle of the camera but it seems awfully large and squarish versus the rectangular shape as is normal.

Hmmm. I have to agree about the cyclops.

Could be the crystal, but the watch looks genuine. Many of these watches have aftermarket crystals. That is a pretty tough GMT to find - in any condition.

Buddy Greg...NO need to sweat the small stuff...
please do not worry...even if it means the crystal could be aftermarket...

A wise Vintage Rolex watch guru of TRF(a thoroughbred biker) once told Orchi...
the crystal on the watch...is much like a windscreen of a vintage car...

For as long as it keeps the rain water out of the car...when it's pouring...
it is serving its intended purpose...(good waterproofing property).

The plastic crystal in particular is highly consumable item...
one small nudge or bump...the crystal would be scratched or chipped...
So having a good aftermarket replacement crystal on your watch is nothing seriously
wrong...

Even with the best of aftermarket crystals available at relatively cheap cost...
one can't really tell the difference as compared with the real ones...
unless under the inspection of high magnification lens...
by the experienced watchmaker/collector...

So again...have no fear...your 16750 watch with MK.2 Matte Dial is looking good from here...

Thanks everyone for your input, and Orchi for a moment of zen. Buddy Orchi, what are the differences between the Mk.1 and Mk.2 dials? Is it the Mk.1 that has the tall coronet? I've looked in the dial archive at VRF, but haven't been able to figure it out.
