326934 SkyD $14,800 versus $15,200 Still a bargain in my book

Okay I’m done.

But overall I’m only after a 505/515 to complete my Rolex endeavors and there small price increase is actually good news in my opinion. Price increase less than most

No great loss. If he'd been any good he'd have made sure you edited the "your" to "you're" throughout the thread.

Wasn’t it John Mayer who said something like, ‘When I realized I wanted the watches more than I wanted the money, that’s when I knew I was a collector.’

Will these prices deter anyone?

Didn’t think so.

Deter people from buying Rolex products? Most likely not. But push them towards more classical models whose prices were only increased by roughly 3%? Only time will tell. For example, for roughly the same price of a Submariner date, you can now get a fluted white gold bezel with jubilee bracelet Datejust 41 or the smooth bezel oyster bracelet option for a LOT less money. Or you could also pay a small premium and get a Yachtmaster 40 SS with a SOLID platinum bezel insert.

Obviously, the scarcity of those SS professional references was not enough of a factor to drive customers away to less popular references, so now they are jacking the prices significantly. Maybe it's gonna move the needle and people will turn to less popular Rolex models or even to Tudor watches. Pure speculation on my part but it will be interesting to see if there is a shift in the market in the next months.

Lol. Easy to say when you’re a multi millionaire rock star. Here’s my version-

‘When I realized I wanted the watches more than I wanted to pay my mortgage, that’s when I knew I was a collector.’

I don’t see this price increase remotely doing anything other than maybe pushing some to buy even more in the secondary market.

Secondary market will go up immediately if it hasn't already.

The OF Daytona is $34,850. If I recall correctly, that only went up by a few hundred which isn't bad at all. Now only if I could get one!!!

Yep, looks like a relatively modest $800 uplift

Non meteorite dial “was” 29,700 USD and now 30,500 so yep only $800.

I’m right there with you though. Only model I’m after or full PM 505. Hell I don’t even care about the Meteorite dial. I like all of them. Granted I definitely wouldn’t say no to a Meteorite dial.

Fingers crossed hopefully sometime soon

Since the bigger increases were for the SS sports, looks like HQ wants to

1) Cut into the flipper margin. I doubt greys will start paying out 10pct more to flippers right away when their stock is high as it is.

2) Further steer the brand to more high net worth, less average consumer, with all tool watches increased and less obtainable.

3) Make DJs as the hot watch for new buyers to get with the minimal increase.

This has been a long time coming. Ever since their strategy to reduce and limit production of SS Sport models a few years back. Going back 20 or so years the Sport models were always a bargain compared to their "bread and butter," the steel and gold DJ. With inflation ramping up I would not be surprised to see another similar bump sooner than later.

I've seen zero evidence that Rolex has had a "strategy to reduce and limited SS Sport Models"...

SEEMS TO ME that there are MORE SS Sport Models in the "market". Interesting theory for a spy thriller though.

Now whether or not you want to pay for them is another topic.

It goes back to the end of 2017 and the proof, as they say is in the pudding. Originally received as a bit skeptical but history has shown that there may definitely be something to it. We have seen this play out prior to Covid so it's not just linked to the pandemic.
