RXW 1938A, are they still available?
I've seen this watch and it looks nice, of course it's not a 249 but i'd like to try something like this as a starter before entering the dark side of Radiomirs
So are these available anywhere, i'm not wanting to try an out and out fake, and these seem well made and nice, so it would actually work well as a working watch as well. Another question though, how much do these go for as well?

I think RXW's go for about $1,000 US. They pop up on eBay. But be careful, they do get faked. I think (but am not sure) the fakes RXW's have the crown lever the way Panerai has it, & the real RXW's have it in the reverse way.

BTW, RXW 1938a doesn't exist. It is RWC 1938a.
RXW is a different company altogether. I have it too. I dare not show it on the other site. I'd be persecuted even though this homage was made prior to the 249 ever being released. Also it is 45mm and has a solid case back with a non-screw down crown. Domed sapphire crystal. 6497 movement. $1000 bucks is about right.

That's the one, yeah i didn't even ask on the other site as they get a bit silly over stuff like this, even though as you say this came out first, before Panerai's hommage

FWIW, I'm very happy with it. It doesn't have the same quality and finish as Panerai, but for $1000, you can't go wrong. It winds very smoothly and keeps pretty good time. I never wear it for more than 2 days at a time so I've never really timed it, but the difference isn't noticeable over a 1 day period of wearing it. Love the domed crystal and the 45mm size. I don't think I'll ever own a 47mm rad, unless I start to eat a lot more.

Wow, I just visited their website. Looks like they came out with a new watch design. A PVD 1938a.

New here to the Panerai scene. What is the difference between this one and the one that commands $12,000? Looks like there is a difference in the outer color of the hour and minute hands and a clear back. Great looking watch by the way!
Never mind, I see it now in the back...replica? |

249 has... blue hands 47mm case plexiglass display back screw down crown incredible quality of finish 1938a has... black gloss hands 45mm case domed sapphire solid back non-screw down crown decent quality of finish It isn't a replica. No where on this watch does it say it is a Panerai. Say what you will, I don't care....

If it is a copy of the Panerai then it'll be a great story, as the RWC came out first it would have to involve a time machine

Ah, also forgot to say, it's also quite a weird thing to remember that the Panerai of today isn't the same, they are a completely different company in all but name to the company that produced the originals, so you could say the people making hommages of panerai are panerai

Gorgeous watch! I had a Ticino version awhile back that I sold...it had gold hands...this RWC looks killer.

It is just a watch, but Panerai thinks they invented the TV/Cushion case oh and the Cali dial which Rolex most likely made so popular.

Yeah, i use it for references and of course hunting straps, i've all but given up on any type of debate, it's not just panerai, all brands are the same these days, but for some reason p.com does annoy me with the way some feel that panerai are still the company they were 50 years ago, for me the history side of it is nice, but it's just that, history, they aren't the same company anymore and it's all about what they produce today and the way forward for me.

Same here. Whenever I speak up, I get pounced by a couple of the "regulars".
It is suck a fricking double standard. If I would even mention a price of a watch I'd get smacked, yet their are regulars that bitch and moan about people listing expensive 292, 312, etc and the listings get pulled. Complete BS.
