Bb58 is a great piece. They are not Rolex, but they are great pieces. There is room for them in any collection, and I would say pick up one or two of them as the AD has them and wait for the YM as well. If it’s truly a one watch vs 3 due to financial reasons, then I would get three watches. Get one Bb58, one gmt, one chrono. Tudor has a line that can stand on its own merits. No shame in owning 3 of them instead of one Rolex. I just wouldn’t buy 3 BB58s unless you had a big collection with lots of variety already.

Would you take a bronze and silver medal over one gold medal?

I have a silver and bronze BB. I enjoy both watches. They get little wrist time compared to the Rolex part of the collection. Get a newish preowned bronze while you wait for the YM. The bronze BB is a great piece. Best of luck either way.

I have the 58 and the YM40 and there is no comparison in terms of look and feel. The YM feels like a 10k watch the 58 does not. They are both great for different reasons but the 58 will not scratch the YM itch.

Wait for the YM. I suspect you’ll regret it if you make the trade.
If your funds allow it, maybe buy one BB58 now because it’s a great watch. Definitely won’t hurt to have it in your collection! |

Wait for the YM. Grab the BB58 if you want one in the interim, and you can sell it when the YM arrives without any real loss.

Interesting take Dougie. My BB58 is as well made and more accurate than my SD43 (well, now that it’s suffering from Rolex’s inability to properly test a “new” movement before production 3235 movement failing issue) It’s also a better quality watch than my 5 digit Sub 16610 or SD 16600 were in terms of fit, finish and overall quality feel. Does that make 5 digit subs and sea dwellers less than mediocre? I don’t think so and I suspect many on here will agree with me on that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

No, please be patient. By all means buy one BB58 to tide you over but definitely hold out for the YM.

100% agree with you. To say the BB58 is a mediocre watch is ridiculous. Its a great watch and probably the best value for money out there. |

I very much like the BB58 and considered getting one. However, there were others I thought were better in its price range. I ended up getting an Omega SMP Diver 300 blue instead. IMO it has a better movement, made from better materials (I would never buy a diver at this price range without ceramic), better looking (subjective), more iconic, better brand (Rolex > Omega > Tudor), and I even like the presentation box/packaging more. Again, the BB58 is a very nice watch … just not in the league of the Rolex. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
