To each their own. I used to be super paranoid about getting scratches, and even put film on my clasp to try (unsuccesfully) to prevent them. Then I saw a guy with a Yachtmaster (platinum) that had scratches all over and frankly it looked pretty bad-ass. So now I don't worry about it - I've come to like the "worn well" look, and have decided to wear the watch instead of having the watch wear (control) me! Makes life simpler.

They were scattered around over the years and many were answered off forum in PM. Some others have picked up the torch and has done more recent scotchbrite post.
I’ll just give you the basic recommendations of tools: (Yellow Sunshine polishing cloth for high polish areas. Check Amazon). I like these much better than Cape Cod cloths. (Green Scotchbrite pads). (Blue painters tape) to mask off areas. Practice on SS metal or a cheap watch first if you are new to metal polishing. It’s a art form you need to get some experience with. It’s not hard to learn but a $$$ Rolex isn’t the best medium to learn on.
