Respectfully have to disagree as someone who owns both reference- the 41mm is more slight comfortable & sits better on the wrist in my opinion.

I think the difference between the 11 and the 12 is ultimately pretty minor, and I really don't understand how someone can love one but despise the other.

You see the difference on all the close up photos you see on TRF. In real life, you’d never be able to tell the difference if you saw someone wearing one a couple feet away from you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think Rolex nailed the proportions on Sub41 and DJ41 compared to their predecessors. 12 series Subs wear like 5 digits but still have the bells and whistles of the new technology.

It’s very subtle but seeing both together, the 41 seems a bit more put together. Without having both sides by side, most couldn’t tell the difference. The exterior lug width on the 40 just seem too blocky compared to the bracelet width. Get what you want.

Lol they wear exactly the same. Photos exaggerate the differences. If we’re taking 5 digit references, then, you’d have a point but for this…nah.

Rolex ruined Submariner when they introduced 6 digit series. What they should of done, is to follow 16610LV footstep by staying the classic casing with maxi dial, larger hands, it is ok to add rehaut etching, ceramic insert, bracelet upgrade, mvt update and call it the day.

I’m on team disagree here. Nothing wrong with liking what you like but if you are a Panerai fan I can totally understand why you prefer the 11. It feels a lot bigger on the wrist. I have both the 114060 and the 124060 and the 11 is back in the bank box now. It’s a great watch and all but it wears much larger. I do enjoy the bracelet taper on the 11 but the 12 is greatly improved and balanced. I do agree with a previous comment saying it’s more bezel heavy whereas the lugs on the 11 take the eyes more. From a foot away one can’t tell a difference but up close and wrist presence are quite different. The 11 is a heavy hunk of metal and the 12 wears closer to a 5 or late 6 digit. The bigger clasp evens the case out and sits better on the wrist but you won’t pick up on this just trying on an unsized exhibition model.

The difference is relatively microscopic. I would find it difficult to take one seriously if he/she LOVED one and HATED the other. Like many, I prefer one over the other, too, but recognize that both are great.

From any real distance, they just don't look drastically different. I've borrowed this pic from the interwebs and shrunk the size slightly. |

There is a reason they got rid of the DateJust 2 and the Sub C.
Proportions were all wrong. The DJ2 looked like a Reese’s peanut butter cup with that oversized bezel. |

The lug width was the killer for me on the new one… makes it wear too chunky

There’s a reason why threads like these are only opened by 6-digit ref owners and lifelong Rolex fans who only got their first Sub in recent years.
4 and 5-digit owners are just chilling on the sidelines with perfection. |

Sounds like you need some 47mm Panerais. 41mm case much nicer than the previous blocky 40mm but the clasp on the new sub is enormous so both are flawed. 5 digit pieces with CE bezels would be epic!

One embodies perfection, a work of art, actually, scratch that, a masterpiece! The other is a massive failure, an insult to horology and, quite frankly, a piece of s*&t!

That's why the 14060 remains the last of the best.

Interesting, to me the 41 sub seems to have more presence than the 40. The 1mm wider bracelet and more robust clasp appear like the overall watch is larger even though the lugs are slimmed down.
Dial/crystal size is the same or not? |

The 41mm looks better and wears better IMHO. I don’t even think it is close!
