I know most of you will wear your watch on the left wrist,but i'm a righty and proud.I'm left handed so its a no brainer for me.

I'm right handed and I wear on the right.....it's a long story but suffice to say blame it on my Dad (who now wears his on the left!), myself, my brother and two of my sons wear on the right, we are all right handed.....

I am right handed, and I wear mine on the left, but I wear a bracelet on my right. It looks like a Rolex band, but skinnier, so it matches.

I voted left...I"m right handed. But the young man in my avatar is the family anomaly...he's right handed and insists on wearing on his right.

Is it assumed that right handed people wear their watch on their left wrist and left handed people wear their watch on their right wrist?

Seems that some do but it's not "cast in stone"....myself, my brother and my two eldest sons are all right handed and wear on the right.....

I think it's just a "dominant hand" thing. Easier to manipulate the clasp with your dominant hand, less chance of banging it around on your non-dominant hand, writing a check with your dominant hand and checking for the date, etc.

It's a long(ish) story....maybe not that long actually.....My Dad did national service in the British Army, he was posted to Malaysia....he wore a Smiths mechanical watch (wonder if he still has it somewhere) on a leather band....anyway humid climate caused bacteria to form on the leather and caused him some grief, giving him a very bad rash on his wrist, the doctor told him to get a new band and wear on the right 'til his left wrist got better....he didn't bother to change....then I came along and got my first watch at around 7 years old and copied my Dad, then my brother followed suit.......then I became a Dad myself and my two eldest boys copied me.......now guess what....for no apparent reason around two years ago my dad swapped back...can you believe that!!!!

So that's why....hope you didn't nod off in the middle.....

Funny what we pick up from our folks. My dad always wore his with the dial under the wrist and for years that's how I did it.

I wish there had been an option for both. As a right-hander I mainly wear my watch on my left wrist, but for certain activities I wear it on my right. For me it's situation dependent.
