My new Subbie Date and other stuff
Hello all,
I did not intend to get a new watch today but the deals are too good right now at my AD. I got a new "M" series SS Sub Date for $4900.00 +tax. They also had a SS Daytona, but it was the black face, for sale (NO DISCOUNT) but it was/is for sale at MSRP, along with Millgusess, Deep Seas (DEEP DISCOUNT), hell, they had every watch model in stock! I would have been sorely tempted to get the Daytona if it was a white face. He mentioned that it was slow, and to take advantage of the discounts, which I happily did! I don't think this will ever happen again. I was thinking back to the recession in 93, and I do not remember Rolexes being discounted, or a store having a Daytona on offer. I hope this is a good one, I just set it to the time of the clock at the TRF opening page. My GMT II loses one second a day, which is damn good, and I hope my new Subbie is as good or close. My last one was 3 seconds fast, we will see. Does my watch have the new Parachrome spring? And I took off the plastic, so it's totally nude! Don't the new boxes smell funny? Smells good though, but like the new car smell, intoxicating! I'd send pictures, but I do not have a digital camera, my phone camera is the pits, and to be honest, it looks like all the rest you have seen. I am waiting for the Nikon D-300 to go down in price before I bite, till then it's film in my F-5. So, my bank account (earning .5% interest) took a minor(?) beating, I am very happy (most important, IMHO), and I hope my girlfriend does not yell at me for buying another expensive watch! If she doesn't, I might just marry her. If she does, well, I have you guys, and by the looks of things, we seem to be getting quite a few female members..hmmmm.. I might just light up my last Cuban Cohiba to celebrate, that would tick her off for sure! Fine watches and Cigars, most women just don't understand. Oh, another thing, he threw in a copy of Stiletto magazine, a Rolex special, the entire magazine devoted to Rolex, along with a Jeager LeCoultre book (I might have said I was looking for another Reverso), and this huge magazine devoted to complicated watches, it has to be 18" by 12". Nice guy! Come to Georgia, where everything is in stock, and the discounts are fantastic! David |

Congrats on a great acquisition David. Which AD did you go to in ATL? I'd rather pay GA sales tax than here in FL.
Post some pics when you get a chance. And again, great choice on a watch!

Brown and Co. in Roswell Ga. Ask for Jim, great guy! 7% sales tax, or ship out of state and 0%. (I think they ship?)

Seriously? I was just there this past week. That's funny. My parents live in Roswell, so the AD was close so I stopped by just to look.

Congrats. Your watch does not have the Parachrome spring, but it makes little difference. I've had my Sub next to strong magnetic forces and it hasn't missed a beat.

Congrats on your new watch. Nothing like a new watch straight from the AD.

I hope this is a good one, I just set it to the time of the clock at the TRF opening page. [/QUOTE] Remember that the clock on this web site is just reflecting your system clock, so it may not be accurate. There are many threads here covering that subject. |
