Anyhow, that's still no big deal because even if I had to foot the bill at some point, well, if you spend 4K on a watch, you can definitely afford 400 for a service, right?
It’s not a matter of affording a $400 service. It’s the principle. And how many times are you willing to foot a $400 service to fix the same problem?

I can't argue about principle if that's a standard of yours.

As for the bill, let's talk reality here:

Say that you're out of warranty and somehow handed the short end of the stick by Rolex not acknowledging (unlikely as the opposite has been observed; refer previous posts in this thread) the fact of a known issue. That would be 400 on your end.

After a service, you get a 2 year warranty.

The rest I leave to your consideration.

I think they know by maybe they are waiting for a new movement to replace the existing one.

Porsche put a 10 year warranty on those engines. How is that not owning up to it? They’ve replaced engines at no cost on cars that have had 4-5 owner and practically live at the track. They were under zero legal obligation to do so.

A friend was WELL taken care of with a potential problem on his GT3. Enough so that I won’t go into as to be told it’s not factual.

Anyway, this date issue has kept me from purchasing this watch. Too many other GMT’s on the market than to take a chance. I’ll stick with my Rolex and GS for tracking time zones.

Is Rolex charging 400$ to service the Tudor date issue?
Rolex boutique manager the watch will be fixed for free ad Infinitum as long as it’s been taking care of by them.

Picked mine up a month ago. No issues so far. Not worried as Watch has a 5 year warranty.

If the watch turns into a lemon, then I will deal with it at that point in time.

Picked one up yesterday- first impressions are excellent - great looks , feel and fit at a surprising price point- plus it’s available Colleague at worked passes on one due to date wheel concern but it has a 5 year warranty so not a worry for myself.

Absolutely, The watch is nicer in person than pix, pricing n availability, I luv it. Been looking at it on display case for many years, but so different when you put one on your wrist, wearability is superb, mine is on leather strap, small wrist.
My first GMT watch, so my opinion might be “off”. 😀😀😀

I actually think it's a underserved complication compared to others. I am referring to a travelers GMT with a rotating bezel. I have been thinking of buying a Tudor despite the date issue, because it seems like I don't have a lot of options. Obviously an office GMT changes everything, but for me, it's not the same class or complication, I need a jumping hour.

1. Rolex- much more expensive and can be difficult to acquire at retail.
2. GS- Not a lot of rotating bezel options that are less than 44mm (although
I have my eye on a few)
3. Omega- The PO is hockey puck thick
4. Seiko- Sharp edge Presage- I owned one, but sold it. Great value, but I couldn't get over the cheapness of the bracelet.
5. Mido or Certina- No idea, I've never seen one

So again, IMHO, I don't see a lot of competition which I think is why this watch has sold so well.

Has there ever been guidance by Tudor around the timing of adjusting the movement. Some movements like the valjoux 7500 are sensitive between 9pm and 3am when the mechanism is in the date change process. I wonder if the reason some escape this problem and others have multiple failures comes down to the way it’s being set and use pattern. For a GMT I’d hope there are no blackout windows for adjusting the movement but it’s possible.

No blackout windows for adjusting the date.

Exactly this

Some people treat the risk like wearing a hand grenade on their wrist with a loose pin.

Shortly after I bought mine, I adjusted the hour hand at about 11pm. I moved it forward three hours and the date wheel advanced one day.

In the manual, it says, “ Set the date by turning the crown in either direction.” There is also a similar comment for local time.

So I then moved the hour hand back three hours to 11pm. The date did not go back one complete day. It ended up about midway between two dates.

To solve the problem, I took the hour hand back to 6pm and advanced it forward again to 11pm.

I am not sure what would have happened if I’d left the date in the midway position. I assume it would have corrected itself when the hour hand past the midnight position.
