08 Rolex Daytona real or fake?

is your friend wealthy?? If he isn't then spending around 10000 dollars on a watch for a friend would seem unlikely, if he's wealthy and could easily afford to do this, why would he buy a fake?

It all looks really good based on the pictures but there's something off to me about the inside engraved ring around the dial. It's hard to tell in the picture but it doesn't seem like the letters line up with each minute marker like they usually do. Normally each letter in the word ROLEX is right in the middle on top of each minute marker. You'll have to look at it in person and see if it does line up cause it doesn't look like it in the pictures.

Like Tom said though, if you are really wanting to know just send it in for service. Rolex will not hesitate to tell you if its real or not. It's probably getting to be time for service anyways since you've had it for over 6 years. On the other hand, usually the fakes don't last nearly that long so that's a good sign if the watch still works daily.

When I googled "Rolex Daytona M258117" (serial number of watch shown) a replica site was the first hit, featuring, wouldn't you know it, a review of a replica Daytona with that precise serial number. Also a search of our own forum shows that fakes using this serial number have come up before.

I'm no expert but it does look fake to me.

As well as what has already been pointed out, I would say the back of the clasp looks suspicious to me.

Rehaut doesn't look good at all and the coronet looks kinda off. Also, the engraved serial number between the lugs look really light compared to a genuine Daytona. And last but not least, if it's a newer model with the serial engraved in the rehaut, it shouldn't be engraved between the lugs but I can be wrong. My subC was only in the rehaut and not between the lugs but I'm no expert

In 2008 Rolex switched to the fatter hands but yours are the slim hands, I don't think Rolex has the rehaut on the slim hands version.

I was going to say the case looks a little thick. I've heard the fakes with an automatic movement have to be a little thicker to fit it inside. Of course I don't have a daytona to compare it to, but maybe someone here can comment on that.

I also find it interesting why we get new members who sign up purely to ask these types of questions...

When will User Error show up to say that people are beating on the newbies??

Yeah, this one is fake, between the serial # that is blatantly being used, and both rehaut and case serial number, amongst other tells...

You can look at the engraving between the lugs to see its fake.

Yes, we can help you!

First, re-gifting your birthday presents is tacky.

Second, get a new friend that does not gift fake Rolex watches.

Third, Dad just cut you out of the will. Get a J - O - B.

So you searched your watches serial number and you came to this thread.

Guess you have a fake, like the OP.
