Rolex Watch Servicing
Greetings!
I just had another wonderful experience with the gentleman who services my watches! I highly recommend Dung Lam, at Herndon Watch & Clock, in Northern Virginia. He is a Certified Master Watchmaker, and he has a parts account with Rolex. He does phenomenal work, is reasonably priced, and he is a gem of a gentleman! While I live up in Maryland, he is definitely worth the drive down to NoVa! Today I picked up my 1961 Rolex 1002, and my 1991 Rado Ceramica (don’t laugh...) We chatted about watches, and he is very knowledgeable about a wide variety of horological topics! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Good to know as I happen to reside in the state of Virginia. I’m glad you had a great service.

Agreed!
I wholeheartedly agree! Just dropped my P serial 16710 off with Mr. Lam today; it will get a full service (with a two year warranty) and be done in four weeks.
Can't wait! |

Good to know
We’ve heard here for a while, that Rolex is slowly cutting back on supplying parts to these independents. I hope that folks like this can keep things going as they serve a niche need |

I've seen it already with a reputable watchmaker who used to be highly esteemed and moving in influential realms within the mothership. He eventually went out on his own like a lot of ambitious and talented individuals, but was slowly marginalised until he was eventually cut off from direct parts access. I also am seeing signs of it with another watchmaker. The pattern is the same, with the outcome clear. In summary, it's going to be RSC or nothing All the brands are doing it. |

Just wondering about this parts account. It doesn’t say that anywhere on his website? He mentions he uses ‘original parts’. Lots of watchmakers without parts accounts do that. Also, a parts account wouldn’t matter these days as that movement doesn’t have parts supplied by rolex to independent watchmakers these days.

It’s certainly true that Rolex have cut of parts supply and will continue to do it more and more, however, it’s still not a case of RSC or nothing. There are several well known watchmaker’s around the world that specialize in restoring vintage rolex. These individuals don’t have Rolex parts account but do have parts that Rolex don’t even have.
There are so many rolex parts on the open market it’s remarkable. |

Here’s quite an interesting article, although the decision was due last year I can’t find any more info. There is also a European case ongoing..
