Bracelet codes
Take a Datejust, rose gold and steel, and lay it alongside another identical one – the only difference is the bracelet – one is an Oyster, the other a Jubilee. Same materials, same dates, same condition
If we switched the bracelets over, would that be delectable by the model/serial codes ? |

No.
You need the full build code that identifies metal, dial, and bracelet for that.

The FULL model/serial code (reference number) reveals everything about the watch. As an example, I just did quick configurations for a Datejust, Everose gold and steel, fluted bezel, white Roman dial on both, one with an Oyster bracelet, and the other with a Jubilee bracelet. The full reference number for the watch with the Oyster bracelet is 126231-0016 (https://assets.rolex.com/watches/dat...26231-0016.pdf) and the watch with the Jubilee bracelet is 126231-0015 (https://assets.rolex.com/watches/dat...26231-0015.pdf). The watch with the Jubilee bracelet but with a white stick dial is 126231-0017 (https://assets.rolex.com/watches/dat...26231-0017.pdf). The serial number for the watch tells Rolex what the original configuration was, as well. The little white plastic tag that comes with the watch has the full reference number and the serial number. So, in Rolex's database, they can look up the serial number and see what the original configuration was when it left the factory and was shipped to the AD. |

None of that is available on the watch. You need original papers with the build code, so no, you can't tell with the watch alone.

If just selling the watch, or having it serviced by a non-Rolex person... no one would be the wiser. |
