They are like NFT mechanics. Every time someone posts a new thread in TRF, it registers to the blockchain and the price goes up. Oops, just did it again.

I am also curious about this. Was looking at YG daytona a a couple months ago for 50k, now they are all listed at 80 and 90k. Are they actually selling at those prices?

Yes IMHO its a great example of Selling a Sucker a big steaming Doofus !

The PM content of a Rolex is approx 5 troy Oz's, the watch costs approx $4k to production costs to make, the PM (Platinum) is about $5k .............total $ 9 to 10 K.

Take an average idiot with money to burn, whip them into a frenzy and voila ! the market goes crazy.

Give it 4 years and the prices will be back to earth, some will have taken a rather large bath in all the hype and hysteria.

That has no logic, do you think nikes trainers cost them a lot to make? Do you think a pair of Gucci shoes cost 1-5k to make?

Calling everyone an idiot for buying Precious metal watches is a bit strong. And in most cases, they are probably far from an idiot, to of been able to put them self in a position to spend their hard earned money on a very expensive and indulgent purchase.

A 116519 is NOT going for high 60s. Maybe high 50s brand new from an established grey. I could see DavidSW listing one new for 60, but not high 60s. I saw a pre-owned one listed yesterday for 53k and I see one still available currently for 57k.

The market finally realized how low the PM Daytonas were priced at 50k when compared to the rest of the competitors. Look at the PM prices of the other brands(AP, patek and vacheron), and you will see Rolex still has room to grow. I don’t think they are done increasing yet. With the SS Daytonas reaching 50k, it only makes since that the pm prices rise.

I dont think you can compare the holy trinity to Rolex, particularly in terms of production numbers of those PM pieces.

It is fake. Just like the imaginary stock market wealth printed since the pandemic began. Nothing is materially better yet prices are up up up. It's almost like everything is up when denominated in fiat currency.

There is only one thing that is even more inflated : cryptocurrencies

Ps: since you mentioned fiat currencies had to reply

I agree but Rolex seems like a bargain in comparison.
