Anyone else have this problem?
I noticed a few weeks ago that my brand new GMT Master II's date would not change all the way at midnight.. For instance, last night, it got stuck between the 29th and the 30th. When first bought the watch from an AD in Feb, it didnt do that. I got up around 3am last night and the date was perfectly centered saying the 30th.. My camera is broken so ill try and post a pic later.. Any ideas?

So, are you saying that the date is still stuck between the 29th and 30th or that at midnight it does not change instantly?

Sometimes that happens...
It's a piece of metal that has to be pushed around by another piece of metal.. Manually click the disc through all the days of the month a couple of times......... it will probaly work flawlwssly after that......

It changes at midnight, sometimes about 3-4 minutes after. However, when it changes the date gets stuck between the current date, and they next days date. By the time I get up in the morning its totally normal. Last night I got up at 3am and it had totally advanced to the 30th.. Thanks tools ill try that!!

Hi Craig
I have had this "hanging" happen to me a couple of times, but the problem seemed to fix itself. On the DJ, the dates clicks in at exactly midnight. Mind you its nearly 43 years old. On my other watches, I do notice it takes about 5 minutes after midnight to roll over fully. Not that it bothers me at all. |

I had this happen years ago it took up to 3 hours for the date to unhang between two dates. and i sent it to RSC.
They said it needed an "adjustment" and it worked fine ever since.

I cycled thru all the dates with the hour hand (crown out to second position) and with the crown out all the way.. Where the minute, hour, and 24h hands all move. I noticed the date got hung up several times when cycling with the crown out in either position.. Hope this fixes it. Any other ideas?

I don't have any other suggestions..
But let me paraphrase from the GMT Manual... - When setting the time close to midnight, if the time does not click all the way over, continue to rotate the hands until the date is fully in view, then rotate the hands back to the correct time. - I think that you are concerned over something that is periodically known to happen with mechanical contrivances..

Craig,
Funny you had this happen to your GMTIIc. Just last night I noticed this exact same "funny" with my GMTIIc (also a V series). I looked at the time right before I went to bed at about 2:30AM and noticed that the date was (halfway) stuck between the 31st and the 1st. On the occasions that I have happened to watch the date roll over, it has been pretty consistent at changing the date within a couple minutes past 12:00. You could imagine my surprise when it was halfway "rolled over" and it was already a couple hours past midnight. I did a couple tests where I set the time to 11:48 and the date to the 31st and watched the date change...both with no worries. I hope all is well with my GMT? |

Well, I did what tools said to do, and noticed that while I was cycling thru the dates that some dates would hang up and others would not. Last night (31st-1st), everything worked perfectly. Hopefully all is well with our watches!!
