When 28m Datejusts become “allocation pieces” for the walk in and require wait lists, we are headed towards Armageddon.

I predict purchasing Tudor will be a sign of good faith and a “qualifier” to eventually own your first Rolex at AD’s.

Just my 2 cents on where we are headed. And makes sense for them to leverage Rolex hype to further push Tudor, which are also amazing pieces for the money.

To be fair, when conventional wisdom to speed up your allocations is "buy a ladies watch" is it any wonder ladies pieces are now in short supply?

There are a lot of people out there with too little patience, too much money and some weird aversion to buying grey

If someone really want a particular watch, might as well just buy grey instead of allocating time and money on some other watches/jewelry you don't really want. Evens out in the end I'm sure on most watches.

I'm not against it
I mean, I'd always go grey if the market was flipped (buying UNDER retail) so I've got no issues with the practice

But, as someone with a limited watch budget, the Grey prices on most pieces pushes them past the price point i'm comfortable spending
Doesnt really bother me, plenty of other options out there in the price brackets i can justify
I dont understand why so many people get hung up on Rolex, if i'm honest

Really depends on what area you are in. Personally I don’t find it’s that bad. Check out some other ADs in your area. And, be patient. Time flies when you are not thinking about it.

Yes, in the last 12 months from my AD I've gotten a Pepsi, Root Beer, and Daytona Cosmograph. I'm on the wait list for a Cosmograph and Submariner.

My AD told me flat out this is the plan. Tudor is the new entry point, and you work your way up to Rolex and then if you remain a loyal client, the harder to obtain Rolex pieces.

Yes, I have a Lady Datejust, 28mm, TT Everose & steel, fluted bezel, Jubilee bracelet, Sundust stick dial, purchased at an AD in May 2021. (Yes, the Sundust dial had already been discontinued, but my AD is amazingly awesome and got one for me that is a 2021 model [with the coronets on either side of the words "Swiss Made" at the 6:00 position.])

I am in agreement. I don’t understand this ass kissing game with SA’s and buying jewelry for your wife and all this other bs just to get a shot at a retail piece. With the time you spent ass kissing and spending money on trinkets to get up the “list” you could have had the watch in had the next day versus 3 years down the road.

There are literally threads here discussing “what gift should I bring my SA?” Most beta shit I’ve ever seen.

I bought my wife a 31mm TT DJ from a TS here about 2.5 years ago. 20% off MSRP. No tax, stickered, her name on the card. TS was in California, stamped from an AD in WI. If this (or 28mm) is now an allocation piece, people have lost their minds.

I absolutely love Sundust dials. They go so well with Everose gold in any combination, but I prefer sticks
