Thank you. With the original 1.35v mercury battery, spec'd accuracy was plus or minus 2 seconds/day and the battery life was about 2 years. The regulatory agencies banned mercury batteries a couple of decades ago for environmental reasons, and now they use an Eveready 394 1.5v silver oxide battery. The Accutron 214 models have to be adjusted for the higher voltage to maintain accurate time, and there are Accutron specialists who do this.
