Need help buying a rolex gold presidential
I'm in the market for a Rolex presidential. i have the opportunity to buy a original no aftermarket parts from 1989 in good condition with a saffire crystal for 5000.00
is that a good price ? I was offering 4000.00 where should I be at price point. is this a better value then a sport model like a seadweller ? what do you guys think thanks Marcus http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=250431722526 |

I would say that 4-5 thousand is a little low, and you may have to bid higher. I see a lot of stretch in the band, and that may drop the price to 4-5 thousand.
In general, presidents from the 90's go for up to as much as 9-10 thousand, but often they are much lower. For comparison sake, see http://www.bernardwatch.com/watch/RLX4059. |

As Brad mentioned above, the band appears to have some stretch to it. You can ask the seller to post another picture showing the sag on the band.
As far as a comparison with a president and SeaDweller, two different type of watches (sport and dressier style watch). Remember, this presidential will tend so sell higher because of the price of gold. Just something to consider. Good luck! |

I just compared your pics to my DD which is a 1997 18238. The back of yours looks more bulging than mine and it just looks "older". Could it be a 18038. Seller does list as 1970's - 1999. When did they stop making "T SWISS MADE T" dials?
I would ask for the first 3 digits of the serial number to get the year of manufacture from that. Band stretch for sure, seller seems to have "left out" those images. Could be costly to remediate.
